Alan Boehmer - Ted Miller

Alan Boehmer has conducted regular wine seminars and wine tours since 1967. Originally based in Los Angeles, he served as a consultant for the Jurgensen's Grocery Company in Pasadena and for the Music Teachers' National Association convention in Los Angeles. He is the author of Wine Basics in Globe-Pequot Press' Knack Series, available from major book suppliers throughout the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.

Mr. Boehmer has directed hundreds of wine tasting events in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and San Luis Obispo, where he makes his current home. Longtime advocate for California wine, he joined Suite 101 in 1998 as one of the earliest contributing editors, writing for their California Wine topic. He now edits Suite 101's more expansive New World Wine topic.

Mr. Boehmer has visited wine producing regions in California (Cucamonga, Temecula, Santa Ynez, Santa Rita Hills, Edna Valley, Arroyo Grande Valley, Paso Robles, Monterey, Sonoma County, Napa Valley, Sierra Foothills) Oregon, Washington, France (Burgundy, Loire), Germany (Rheingau, Rheinpfalz), Austria (Wachau), and northern Italy. He has been a member of the Wine Institute since 2000.
