Alan L. Hammond
In addition to his Suite 101 Golf coverage, Alan is an editor and writer for SportsMD Media LLC, which publishes GolfersMD.com and TennisMD.com. He is also a contributor to various other publications, as well as a former national affairs newspaper columnist. His golf fitness articles have been featured on TheGolfChannel.com.
Alan received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Eastern Kentucky University in 1991. He was also a visiting international student at Cambridge University in 1990. His time spent in the United Kingdom enhanced his love of history and writing. Being a golfer, he made the requisite pilgrimage to the Old Course at St. Andrews and was somehow enfused with a nostalgic love of the game and a desire to write about it.
In addition to writing about golf, he has been a competitive amateur golfer since the age of 18. He has also been involved in the golf industry in such capacities as pro-shop operations and tournament planning, as well as having been a director and vice-president of his local golf and country club.
Alan is a resident of Lexington, Kentucky, where he resides with his wife and children. He can be reached at Golf@suite101.com, Sports Writer HQ, Suite Golf Travel, or Recession-Proofing Life, his personal finance and small business blog.
