cancer in remission. At this writing Anne is alive and the mother of several children.

The mother of James Sacks turned to Mother Seton in 1975, the year of the saint's canonization, when her son was severely brain damaged in a motorcycle accident. So hideously injured was Jim's brain that his friends and family were not sure whether to pray for life or death. Surgeons repaired the young man as best they could, but he remained in a coma from which death seemed the only escape. Two months after the accident, Jim's mother read a newspaper account of Elizabeth Seton's life and her upcoming canonization. "My tears soaked that newspaper," she recalls. "Surely she could feel my feelings anyone could . . . Please, Elizabeth Ann Seton! Please help me!" Four days later, Jim's right eye, irreparably damaged, was healed. Two days more, and Jim seemed to be aware of his surroundings. His mother obtained a relic of Mother Seton and placed it over his bed. Jim improved. Today he is able to work on a family"s farm . . .. He sees and communicates, and his doctors continue to be amazed."

Prayer by Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

O Father, the first rule of our dear Savior's life was to do Your Will. Let His Will of the present moment be the first rule of our daily life and work, with no other desire but for its most full and complete accomplishment. Help us to follow it faithfully, so that doing what You wish we will be pleasing to You. Amen
