Jingle Bells in the... Spring!

Did I hear someone say he's gone "raving mad in spring"?

Oh no, not this tour operator - and I don't even give away tours for free, but I'm going to list some software that I use myself nearly every day as an travel agent. Yes, you got it now - they are all free, so you see there is a "Santa Travel" out there having some small geniuses building some gems of freeware for us travellers (click on the images below to see the programs in full size).

Email

Like Popcorn?
Okay, put them on a floppy and off you go - or rather, put the brilliant email checker Popcorn on a floppy. It check your mail directly on your POP3 server, tell you what is there and even let you read the mail directly from the server (save the message as a text file as well).

I use it all the time, as popcorn is a great help in spotting and deleting all the spam that drops in every hour. With at least several mail containing virus popping in every day, I have become an "expert" to find these as well.

Not only cleaning and reading mail - popcorn got a tiny mail editor that allow you to compose and send mail directly from Popcorn, and if you want to send a copy of the mail, it of course got a "CC" field for this. Forwarding of mail is here as well, but more unique is maybe that Popcorn is the only freeware email checker I know about that gives you the BCC ("blind" copy") function.

What's so great about "BCC"? Well if you want to have a copy in your mailbox of the mail you send, then you just put your own email address in the BCC - and voila you got yourself a direct copy of the mail you sent (or you want your partner to have a copy, but don't want to show this to the receiver of the mail). As long as you operate on a window system there is no reason not to get addicted to popcorn, and you download it swiftly as the tiny .exe file is not more than 176Kb. In short, Popcorn got my strongest recommendation.

Money

When traveling you will most likely need money - even some dollars left after you paid your ticket / tour is nice.
