When young Sabrina Cameron hears the MacDonnell's were coming, she imagines these giants would cook her up and eat her for breakfast. Never does she imagine that the only part of her that will be touched was her heart--by a defiant, young MacDonnell lad named Morgan.

Without a mother to foster him, Morgan MacDonnell spends his summers under the watchful eye of Elizabeth Cameron, his father's love interest and wife of the chief of the rival clan Cameron. It's not long, however, before the summers of youth end. With his entry into manhood, Morgan ceases to return to Cameron Glen.

Even with the passing of years, Sabrina will never forget the ways she felt looking into Morgan's wild green eyes, or her vow never to let him make her cry again. One night, Sabrina collides with a tall, dark man lurking in her father's chambers. At first, she believes the man to be a strange intruder. Then, she stares into his eyes. Morgan! The happiness of the reunion is short-lived. As she and Morgan kiss in the shadows, another form slips unnoticed into a clan meeting between the MacDonnells and the Camerons. This intruder slips a knife into Morgan's father's back. With the MacDonnell dead, the clans are again at war. Once Morgan hears of his father's death, he leaves as quickly as he came, blaming the Camerons for his loss.

Although innocent of the murder, Dougal Cameron throws himself on the mercy of the Highland Court. In payment for Angus MacDonnell's death, Dougal offers to bequest his daughter's hand in marriage to Morgan, the new MacDonnell chieftain. The council accepts his offer.

The marriage is not a happy one. Sabrina believes that her husband hates her and blames her family for the death of his father. She knows her father is innocent. But who besides her father would want the MacDonnell dead, and why? Perhaps if she can find the answer, she can win Morgan's heart and keep her own intact. A Whisper of Roses is a delightful story of a love that grows in the midst of warring Scottish clans. Once again, Teresa Medeiros has created memorable characters that pull at our heartstrings, and placed them in a world filled with passion, intrigue, murder and mystery.
