2010 NCAA Tournament Bracket for Division I Women's Volleyball

The NCAA announces the final 64 teams competing in the 2010 tournament bracket for Division I women's volleyball featuring eight Big Ten Conference teams.

As the regular women’s volleyball season winds down, fans anxiously awaited the final tournament bracket announced by the NCAA on November 28, 2010.

Each year the National Collegiate Association determines a competition bracket consisting of 64 college volleyball teams. The 2010 NCAA tournament bracket will include 31 non-conference teams awarded automatic qualification and 33 other teams filled based on at large season performance.

Highlights of the final 64 teams in the 2010 tournament include the top four seeds No. 1 University of Florida, No. 2 University of Nebraska, No. 3 Stanford University and No. 4 Pennsylvania State University.

64 Teams Compete in 2010 NCAA Tournament Bracket

First and second round matches will include tournaments in 16 different locations. Bracket match-ups are determined based on geographic proximity, as per NCAA bracketing procedures.

The majority of the first and second round regional tournaments will be held December 3-4, 2010, with some matches held December 2-3 in the Seattle regional. Matches are scheduled with four different regional tournaments with the follow bracket match-ups and locations:

Austin, TX Regional

Gainesville, FL – Florida vs. South Carolina and Georgia Southern vs. Florida State

West Lafayette, IN - Middle Tenn. vs. Louisville and Kentucky vs. Purdue

Austin, TX - Texas vs. UTSA and American vs. UCLA

Champaign, IL - Cincinnati vs. Western Kentucky and Austin Peay vs. Illinois

University Park, PA Regional

Cedar Falls, IA - UNI vs. Missouri and Arizona vs. Northwestern

Durham, NC - Ohio vs. Penn and High Point vs. Duke

Norman, OK - LSU vs. Tulsa and Wichita St. vs. Oklahoma

University Park, PA - Virginia Tech vs. Delaware and Niagara vs. Penn State

Dayton, OH Regional

Stanford, CA - Stanford vs. Albany and Cal St. Fullerton vs. Colorado St.

Dayton, OH - Ohio St. vs. Lipscomb and Butler vs. Dayton

Bloomington, IN - Tennessee vs. Alabama A&M and Miami (FL) vs. Indiana

Los Angeles, CA - San Diego vs. Long Beach St. and New Mexico vs. Southern California

Seattle, WA Regional

Berkeley, CA - California vs. Utah St. and Mississippi vs. North Carolina

Minneapolis, MN - Iowa St. vs. Creighton and North Dakota St. vs. Minnesota

Seattle, WA (December 2-3) - Hawaii vs. Portland St. and Washington vs. Michigan

Lincoln, NE (December 2-3) - Auburn vs. Missouri St. and Sacred Heart vs. Nebraska

Teams winning in the first and second round regional matches will move on to compete in the semi-final rounds of the 2010 NCAA tournament schedule.

Conferences Leading 2010 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament Bracket

The women’s volleyball tournament bracket includes 30 conference teams in the NCAA tournament bracket competing for a 2010 NCAA National Championship title.

  • Eight teams in the Big Ten Conference
  • Seven teams in the Southeastern Conference
  • Five teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference
  • Five teams in the Big 12 Conference
  • Five teams in the Pacific-10 Conference

Also notable in the 2010 NCAA tournament bracket for women’s volleyball is that the bracket includes nine out of ten of the championship teams in the tournament history, including the three-time defending national champion Penn State.
