Topping the list of trendy costume couples for 2010 are get-ups inspired by outrageous television characters, sexy singing divas, a species of blue humanoids and a headline grabbing flight attendant. From the spray-tanned Snooki & Pauly D of Jersey Shore to the sapient, indigenous species of the Na'vi clan of the blockbuster movie Avatar, there are a variety of fantastic costume duos to choose from.
Avatar: Jake & Neytiri
One of the most sought after couple's costume of 2010 is the duo of blue humanoid creatures from Avatar. Neytiri's costume includes a blue striped spandex jumpsuit with a waist-tied loincloth and attached blue tail. It also comes with a gauntlet wristband, a braided tie with feathers and a beaded necklace/wrist accessory. Pair this costume with a Neytiri wig and ears which are sold separately.
The Jake Sully costume comes with a khaki-colored jacket with attached shirt and blue arm sleeves. It includes a pair of khaki pants with an attached tail and a blue face mask. The spear for Jake's costume is also available as an extra accessory.
Jersey Shore: Snooki & Pauly D
The spray-tanned, bee hive haired Snooki of Jersey Shore is so popular there is actually more than one costume option to choose from. There is the sexy, black mini-dress with plunging neckline held together by a silver O-ring or the trashy, leopard print dress. Pair either dress with a Giudette wig with Jersey style bump and a pair of platform heels. Don't forget the spray tan, dark eye-liner, nude lipstick and fake nails.
A spray tan is in order for Pauly D's character as well. The Jersey Juicehead's costume features a black tank top with "DJ Pauly D" screenprinted on the front, and has attached molded, flesh-colored bulging bicep muscle sleeves complete with tattoos. Add a Pauly D headset, a wig with his signature blow-out style and a touch of clear lip gloss to complete the costume.
The Angry Steward & Irate Passenger
Ripped from the headlines, this Halloween costume is modeled after Steven Slater, the former JetBlue flight attendant who deployed an emergency slide and grabbed a couple of beers on his way down after a run-in with an irate passenger who hit him in the forehead with her carry-on luggage. The Angry Steward costume includes a navy colored flight attendant uniform shirt with tie and patch, and a bandage for the head wound caused by the passenger.
To create the irate passenger costume, simply look frazzled as if being on a long plane flight, and carry a small piece of luggage that looks as if it's been torn or beaten, and place a passport or fake airline ticket in the front of a shirt pocket.
Eastbound & Down: Kenny Powers & Ashley Schaeffer
The outrageous HBO comedy series Eastbound & Down has spurred yet another costume craze. The hilarious Kenny Powers' character can be achieved by wearing a permed-mullet wig, jeans and an Eastbound & Down baseball jersey. Manscape facial hair into a circular beard and a carry a beer or a baseball glove to complete the costume.
To carry off the ridiculous, used BMW dealership owner Ashley Schaeffer's costume, a televangelist-coifed blonde wig is in order along with a pair of cheap gold-rimmed sunglasses, a couple of thick gold pinky rings and a cheap light gray suit. Add a light blue collared dress shirt and an ugly striped tie to complete the look.
Telephone Song: Lady Gaga & Beyonce
The Lady Gaga costume of 2010 is inspired by the Telephone video, which features both Lady Gaga and Beyonce singing in sexy American flag-patterned outfits. The Lady Gaga version includes a skimpy flag patterned top and briefs with a matching headband and a pair of red four-fingered gloves. Add a pair of platform boots and a blonde wig, along with some heavy make-up for the perfect Lady Gaga get-up.
The Beyonce costume can be achieved by wearing a Bettie Page style retro wig, painting long fingernails like little American flags, and wearing a sexy American flag style dress with red high-heeled pumps.
