For 2010 - 2011, Disneyland and Walt Disney World offer military discounts on theme park tickets for eligible personnel and their families

For the rest of 2010 and into 2011, Walt Disney World and Disneyland are offering military discounts on their theme-park tickets. Replacing the previous Disney's Armed Forces Salute, these special offers are valid for select Disney tickets purchased through Sept. 28, 2011, providing special pricing for eligible military personnel and their spouses.

Update, May 3: Disney Parks Blog announced they will extend military discounts into September 2012. Details are pending, and this article will be updated as more information is available.

2010 – 2011 Disneyland and Walt Disney World Military Discounts – Eligibility

Active and retired U.S. military personnel or their spouses, including active and retired members of the U.S. Coast Guard, National Guard or Reservists, are eligible to purchase military promotional tickets for either Walt Disney World or Disneyland.

Eligible guests may purchase these military discount Disney tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. One of these tickets must be purchased and used by either the eligible service member or spouse.

Disney's Restrictions and Exclusions

In addition, other restrictions for ticket purchase and use apply:

  • Disney Military Promotional Tickets are available at participating U.S. military sales outlets (MWR/ITT offices).
  • At Walt Disney World Resort only, Disney Military Promotional Tickets are also sold at ticket windows near the Main Entrances of Walt Disney World theme parks. Tickets purchased at participating MWR/ITT offices are tax-free, while those purchased at the theme-park ticket windows are charged tax.
  • A valid Military ID, for eligible military personnel or their spouses, is required to purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets, to activate them, and may be required for admission to the Disney theme parks.
  • Walt Disney World tickets expire, and must be activated and used at Disney theme-park ticket windows no later than Oct. 1, 2011.
  • Disneyland tickets expire, and must be activated and used no later than Oct. 1, 2011.
  • These military discounts for Disney tickets offer may not be combined with any special offers for theme-park admission.
  • All tickets, up to six, must be purchased at the same time.
  • These Disney Military Promotional Tickets may not have additional days or the "No Expiration" option added. However, the Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets may be upgraded to Florida Seasonal Passes or Disney Annual Passes by paying the difference in price.
  • Disney parking is not included with these tickets.

Worth noting is that U.S. military base ticket offices may charge less for the Disney Military Promotional Tickets than the above prices.

Notable among the MWR/ITT offices is the Shades of Green Resort, an Armed Forces Recreation Center on Walt Disney World property. Because Shades of Green has a great deal of experience working with both Disney and military discounts, it is highly recommended service members and their spouses who have questions about Walt Disney World military discounts contact Shades of Green.

Walt Disney World and Disneyland also offer military discounts of up to 40% on hotels during this promotional period, with blockout dates in effect. See 2010 – 2011 Military Discounts for Walt Disney World Resorts for information on Disney’s Orlando hotels.

Debra Peterson :
Thank you for your question. The current military discounts for Disney's domestic parks only specify active and retired members of the above groups. You may wish to contact Disney directly about their policies for disabled veterans.

I also suggest working with your local MWR/ITT office, as they have the experience to best answer your questions and facilitate your travel. Or contact Shades of Green Resort, the AFRC on Walt Disney World property. Their number is 888-593-2242.
