Animethon 17 has announced guest and fan panels and more guests for its 2010 convention. Leading Canadian voice actors the Dobson Brothers to appear.

Animethon, Alberta’s longest running anime convention, has announced two more guests for its 2010 convention. Voice actors Paul, Michael and Brian Dobson will make an appearance at Animethon 17. With one week to go before fangirls and fanboys geek out in Edmonton, Alberta, attendees can review the complete program schedule online and plan their weekend.

Animethon 17 welcomes not one, not two but all three of the Dobson Brothers: Paul, Michael and Brian. All three Canadian actors are highly regarded in the voice acting community for their talents. The Dobson Brothers’ appearance at Animethon 17 is sponsored by Viz Media.

Paul Dobson is well-known for his work on the Fantastic Four (Victor Von Doom/Dr.Doom), Inuyasha (Naraku, Myoga) and He-Man (Trap Jaw, Man-E Faces, Tri-Clops). Non-anime roles include Adam Kilborn in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: “Dark Motives”, Barrel Roll in G.I.Joe: Spy Troops the Movie and Bear in Dark Angel.

Michael Dobson has worked in animation, commercials, film, television, theatre and video games. He has lent his voice talents to Batman: Black and White (Batman), 3-2-1 Penguins! (Kevin Demashita) and Powerpuff Girls Z (Mojo Jojo). Between assignments, Michael works as a teacher and is involved with The Performers for Literacy.

Brian Dobson has worked in animation, film, television and video games. Acting credits include Dragon Ball Z (Super Evil Majin Boo, Dr. Jero), Transformers (Armada, Cybertron), Escaflowne (Nukushi), Mobile Suit Gundam (Dren), Inuyasha (Muso, Shouga) and Death Note (Kiichiro Osoreda).

Guest and Fan Panels at Animethon 17

Animethon 17 has scheduled over 40 guest and fan panels. There is a wide mix to suit any otaku’s tastes.

Aspiring voice actors can check out “Anime Auditions: The Process” hosted by voice actor Kyle Hebert and “How to be a Frickin’ Genius Voice Actor” hosted by voice actor Spike Spencer. Those looking for a laugh can head to the “Anime Match Game” hosted by Eryn Dearden and Synaptic Chaos Theatre and “Improv for Cosplayers”. Attendees with a yen for creating can sit in on “Creating Comics” and “Anime Game Design”.

About Animethon 17

Animethon is organized by the Alberta Society for Asian Popular Arts (ASAPA). Now in its 17th year, Animethon attracts over 4,000 attendees annually. It is the longest running anime convention in Alberta, followed by Otafest in Calgary.

Organizers have already announced some of their special guests, including voice actors Kyle Hebert, Wendy Powell, Spike Spencer and Chris Cason. The 404s and Synaptic Chaos Theatre (SCT) will fill the campus with laughter while musical guests The L33tStr33t Boys and THWOMP, will rock the campus. Other events and activities at Animethon 17 include the cosplay contest, karaoke, AMV contest, the Exhibition Hall and Artist’s Alley.
