Thursday, August 12, 2010 was Big Brother 12 episode 16, and it revealed who would be leaving the Big Brother house. There was the typical review of what has taken place over the past few weeks to start things off, and that included a frustrating Power of Veto competition for Brendon and Rachel that didn’t go their way. The poor sportsmanship of Brendon at the competition is certainly something that is going to stick with him for quite some time though.
Big Brother 12 Episode 16 Recap
The August 12 episode of Big Brother 12 revealed the drama right away, as again there was a lot of focus put on the crying of Rachel in the house. With Britney selecting not to use the Power of Veto, despite a bribe being offered by Rachel, it guaranteed that the “showmance” between Rachel and Brendon was going to come to an end. The intent of the saboteur this week (Ragan) was to try and put a wedge between them, but he wasn’t very successful, even with a saboteur message that stated Brendon was throwing competitions.
Nearly everyone in the house was working hard to try and prepare for whatever type of HOH competition was coming up, and it seemed that Rachel would do well in all of them. The biggest question was whether she would remain in the house though, as the other houseguests were pretending that they were voting out Brendon, all with the plan to shock him by sending Rachel out.
There was also a segment towards the second half of the episode where they talked with Brendon’s ex-fiance, and found out what she had to say about his “showmance” inside the house. The immediate reaction from many Big Brother fans could be that they find her pretty cute.
Big Brother 12 Episode 16 Eviction Ceremony
The August 12 eviction ceremony allowed Rachel and Brendon the chance to first tell the rest of the house why they deserved to stay, or why the rest of the houseguests should vote to keep them. It’s hard to imagine that the speeches had any impact on the voting though, because it seemed nearly everyone already knew who they were voting for before the process even started.
The voting began with Enzo, who voted to evict Rachel. Britney, Kathy, Ragan, Lane, and Hayden (in that order) also voted for Rachel to be evicted.
By a vote of 6-0, Rachel was the fifth houseguest evicted from the Big Brother house.
Big Brother 12 August 12 HOH Competition
The ultra-competitive August 12 HOH competition was going to decide how much of a future Brendon had in the Big Brother house. This challenge involved being tethered to a rope and trying to make it through a web-like maze to ring a bell. The additional challenge was to unravel that rope as they went. The challenge also didn't end before the CBS episode did.
If you are interested in spoilers before the Sunday episode, here is a spoiler article about how the HOH competition went.
