Rocker Brett Michaels, famous solo-recording artist and front man for 80's glam rock band, Poison, suffered a brain hemorrhage almost two weeks ago. Since then, his condition has teetered between critical and stable. This was a shock to his fans even though Michaels has been a diabetic since childhood and has recently been facing some major health issues, having undergone surgery to remove his appendix just a few short weeks ago. With all of the obstacles he's overcome and the hectic lifestyle of being a rock star, Michaels has always done his best to maintain a clean bill of health.
Brett Michaels To Make Full Recovery
Michaels' doctor held a press conference on Tuesday March 4th to update the public on the ailing rocker's condition. It seems that the ever charismatic and feisty Michaels stayed true to himself in fighting for his own health as he has recently been released from the hospital. This, however, does not mean he has a clean bill of health.
The NeuroScience Center reports that there is a 40% chance of death associated with brain hemorrhages and strokes and that 70% of victims experience long-term effects ("Brain Aneurysm and Hemorrhage," n.p.). So, while Michaels may be out of the hospital, he is not out of the woods. It will be a long laborious path to recovery.
As reported by Associated Press writer, Jonathan Cooper on May 4th in his article, "Doctor: Brett Michaels released from hospital," Michaels' doctor, Dr. Zambramski, a top neurosurgeon from Barrow Neurological Institute does expect Michaels to make a 100% recovery. He is one of the lucky few [that will walk away from this serious illness to return to his normal life]--Michaels and fans alike are in luck. It has been reported that Michaels is just starting to walk on his own again and that he has a decent level of consciousness.
Michaels is also starting physical therapy to work on muscle function and motor control and he hopes to resume touring as early as the end of May. It remains to been seen whether or not Michaels will meet his deadline, but it is seems certain that he will make a full recovery. So, don't give up on seeing a Michaels solo show or Poison concert in the future, we don't have to say goodbye to this iconic musician just yet! Hopefully Michaels and his music--he'll be around for us to enjoy for many years to come.
