Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico all offer cash for clunker appliance rebates. Some states offer rebates for Non Energy Star products.

Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and New Mexico will manage the cash for clunker appliance rebate programs for residents who purchase new appliances in Spring of 2010. Individual states have set their own eligibility criteria to determine which type of appliances will be rebated.

Nebraska Appliance Rebates

Nebraska will use a system that requires the consumer to fill out a mail-in rebate form to claim the rebate on Energy Star appliances. The rebates will be available April 2010 through May 2010, or until funds run out.

Nebraska will recognize the following products as eligible for rebates:

Refrigerators

  • Clothes washers
  • Dishwashers
  • Gas and propane furnaces
  • Oil furnaces
  • Central air conditioners
  • Air source heat pumps

All products must meet Energy Star qualifications with the exception of central air conditioners, air source heat pumps, and gas furnaces. These must the energy efficiency standards required to qualify for a federal tax credit.

Purchase must be made from a "registered" heating, ventilation, and air conditioning contractors or retail locations. Consumers must "self-certify" the new unit will replace a clunker unit.

Residents are encouraged to utilize Nebraska Public Power District and the Omaha Public Power District programs to recycle clunker refrigerators.

Nebraska has received a total funding of $1,711,000.

Nevada Appliance Rebates

Nevada will use a system that requires the consumer to fill out a mail-in rebate form to claim the rebate on Energy Star appliances. The rebates will be available April 2010 and continue until funds run out.

Nevada will recognize the following products as eligible for rebates:

  • Refrigerators
  • Freezers
  • Clothes washers
  • Dishwashers

Customers must purchase from participating retailers. These retailers must deliver new appliances to consumers and pick up clunker appliances to recyce.

Nevada has received a total funding of $2,495,000.

New Hampshire Appliance Rebates

New Hampshire will use a system that requires the consumer to fill out a mail-in rebate form to claim the rebate on Energy Star appliances. The rebates will be available April 2010 and continue until funds run out. Certain solar thermal products and indoor boiler reset controls that are outside the Energy Star scope will also be eligible for rebates. New Hampshire requires consumers to reserve their rebates for the solar thermal products.

New Hampshire will recognize the following products as eligible for rebates:

  • Gas condensing water heaters
  • Gas storage water heaters
  • Gas tankless water heaters
  • Solar water heaters
  • Gas furnaces
  • Oil furnaces
  • Gas boilers
  • Oil boilers
  • Indoor boiler reset controls (with the replacement of an existing boiler)

No proof of recycling is required but consumers are encouraged to recycle the clunker products.

New Hampshire has received a total funding of $1,262,000.

New Jersey Appliance Rebates

New Jersey will use a system that requires the consumer to fill out a mail-in rebate form to claim the rebate on Energy Star appliances and ultra-efficient models. The rebates will be available in February 2010 for heating and water heater products and continue until funds run out.

Rebates availability for eligible central air conditioning and air-source and ground-source heat pumps and solar water heaters have not been determined. Rebates for eligible clothes washers, dishwashers, and refrigerators will begin in April 2010, and are offered for a limited time.

New Jersey will recognize the following products as eligible for rebates:

  • Refrigerators
  • Clothes washers
  • Dishwashers
  • Gas storage water heaters
  • Gas tankless water heaters
  • Electric heat pump water heaters
  • Solar water heaters (gas back-up)
  • Oil furnaces
  • Gas furnaces
  • Gas boilers
  • Oil boilers
  • Central air conditioners
  • Air source heat pumps
  • Geothermal heat pumps

New Jersey encourages its residents to recycle clunker appliances. A larger rebate may be issued for recycling refrigerators.

New Jersey has received a total funding of $8,331,000.

New Mexico Appliance Rebates

New Mexico will use a system that requires the consumer to fill out a mail-in rebate form to claim the rebate on Energy Star appliances. The rebates will be available April 2010 and continue until funds run out.

New Mexico will recognize the following products as eligible for rebates:

  • Refrigerators
  • Clothes washers
  • Gas furnaces

New Mexico citizens must purchase the appliances from a retailer within the state. Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) and the Southwestern Public Service Company (Xcel Energy) have recycling programs already in place for appliances, consumers are encouraged to utilize these programs.

New Mexico has received a total funding of $1,904,000.
