Colors are an essential element of home décor. Feng Shui can advise on using colors correctly, so that they help the house owner to achieve his or her goals.

Since ancient times, in China colors and their shades have been treated very carefully. The most powerful color in China is considered white, because it “reflects everything reflecting nothing”. That’s why white symbolized death. According to the Dao philosophy, after death people become free of energy that has gathered during the life, and start the process of preparing for a new life.

Color may be used not only for stimulating and supporting a certain Feng Shui element, but for weakening its influence as well. Having an understanding of the emotional context of different colors, one can manipulate the qualities of the place.

Using Colors in Home Décor

Increasing and decreasing the intensity of color, it is possible to change the environment in accordance with own desires and intensions. Speaking about a house, it should be mentioned that each room should be individual, have its own mood, and reflect the owner’s tastes, habits, and character features.

Start painting your house the colors that you like, and colors that influence you positively. Trust your intuition. Then add bright spots and intense colors as needed.

Yin and Yang Colors in Feng Shui

  • In Feng Shui all the colors represent either Yin or Yang type of energy. Therefore, avoid the prevalence of one color. Try to create a harmonious palette of shades. The person feels the best in a harmonious environment where a natural balance of Yin and Yang rules.
  • Experiment with brightness, intensiveness and deepness of colors. However, choose combinations that ideally correspond to the purpose of each room and your goals. It is, for example, not the best idea to paint a bedroom in bright colors – the bedroom is the place for sleeping and resting. Therefore, it’s better to choose mild and not intense shades for this room.

Light is your ally in achieving the goals. It will help to effectively outline each color, increase its effect or change its shade. When changing illumination of the room, try to notice which option influences you in the most positive way – improves the state of health and mood.

Each individual color is purposed for activating and enhancing a particular Bagua area of the house. As a result, color is an ideal tool for attracting Chi. Furthermore, you can enhance the positive effect of each color combining it with your personal color – the color of your personal Feng Shui element that can be determined with the help of your personal Kua number.
