Best Buy started their Cyber Monday sale on November 28, 2010. You can buy a cheap ereader online today or tomorrow. Best Buy is offering several handheld ebook readers for Cyber Monday, 2010.
Sharper Image Literati Digital Reader
The Sharper Image Literati Digital Reader is $99, which is a great price for a wi-fi capable ereader. There is a 7" screen, and the Literati Digital Reader can handle ePUB and PDF files. This means you can download books from Google Books, which is a plus for any ereader. The Literati also has expandable memory through a micro SD card. The Literati uses an LCD screen instead of e-ink, so it is not as paper-like as an Amazon Kindle or a Barnes and Noble Nook. The Literati usually sells for $150.
Velocity Micro Cruz Digital Reader
For $160, you can get a Velocity Micro Cruz Digital Reader. In addition to the 7" touch screen, the Velocity Micro Cruz can handle EPUB and PDF files. If you want to listen to audiobooks, the Micro Cruz has a built in mp3 player. The Micro Cruz has a color screen, wi-fi, and access to the Borders book store. It has expandable memory through an SD card, and one of the nicest features of any gadget: a battery that can be replaced by the user. It does not use e-ink, so reading the on a Micro Cruz is more like reading on a computer screen than a Kindle. The Micro Cruz Digital Reader is normally $200.
The Sony Reader PRS-300
Although it is not wi-fi capable, the Sony Reader Pocket Edition is an extremely popular ebook reader, and a great ebook reader for kids. Best Buy is selling the PRS-300 for $99, which was Walmart's Black Friday 2010 price the Sony Reader. The PRS-300 can handle PDF files well, and the Sony Reader can handle EPUB books, so it can handle files from Google Books, Kobo Books, and the Sony Reader store. The battery lasts for 2 weeks, and the e-ink is easy to read. Best Buy has the silver and pink models on sale. The PRS-300 is normally $30 more, but goes on sale frequently.
Although none of these ebook readers has access to Amazon's Kindle store or has the easy download of Google Books like the Barnes and Noble Nook, if you are looking for specific features such as wi-fi, an SD card, or a replaceable battery, Best Buy has some good Cyber Monday deals going on through Monday, November 29, 2010.
