On Monday April 18, 2011, the first of the final five episodes of Gossip Girl's fourth season will be aired. The episode is called, “The Kids Stay in the Picture.”

In the last episode to air before the break, audiences were left with several cliffhangers, but even Lily having confessed to a crime could not out trump the ultimate cliffhanger of Blair Waldorf and Dan Humphrey kissing.
These obvious opposites have also been an obvious possible match from the start of the series, but audiences will be bound to shout if Blair and Dan dance into the sunset together, so what will happen?
Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) and Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) History
The sincere writer from Brooklyn, Dan Humphrey, hated everything unpleasant that seemed to be epitomized by Blair Waldorf. The Upper East Side Queen Bee despised Dan with equal fervour. It was much to Blair’s horror that Serena, her best friend, not content with having secretly slept with Blair’s long term boyfriend, began a romance with Dan.
Meanwhile, Blair’s relationship with the cheating and weak Nate went sour, and the vulnerable Blair lost her virginity to Chuck, who later became her long term love. Yes, the order of those events seem reversed, but audiences came to love the dysfunctional couple of Chuck and Blair, mainly due to the superior acting of the two performers portraying the characters.
However, in the early episodes of Gossip Girl, there were hints that the characters of Blair and Dan might grow to like each other, and through the seasons, they have had temporary moments of truce and they have even bonded together to help mutual friends.
In the course of Season 4, Blair and Dan became friends, spending more time together and growing to better appreciate each other, although they were each reluctant to admit to their friendship.
Finally, a kiss between Blair and Dan left audiences wondering if there would be a romantic future for the pair. It would make for much better plots if there were, but some fans would most likely be appalled.
Blair and Dan’s Future
Fans opposed to a romance between Blair and Dan need not worry. The course of supposed love rarely runs for long in teen soap operas, and it seems that within Gossip Girl jealously will soon motivate Serena and Chuck to battle win back their former loves.
