After doing the rent-a-theatre thing in Winnipeg, where Selena Gomez had a concert, Justin Bieber and Gomez went to an NHL hockey game between the Winnipeg Jets and Carolina Hurricanes on Sat. Oct. 22, 2011 and after the game went on the ice and skated.
Bieber, a Canadian kid who, despite his diminutive stature, grew up playing ice-hockey in his home province of Ontario, whipped around on skates and from reports of those there he looked, well, like a hockey player. Gomez also skated and the two held hands as they did a few of laps before Bieber took a few shots on goal.
The two saw an exciting hockey game, with the home-town Jets, only brought back into the NHL fold this season after 15 years without a team in Winnipeg, went down early, 2-0, and yet came back to beat the Hurricanes, 5-3. The two had their own box seats away from the rest of the crowd.
Bieber and Gomez Go Skating in Winnipeg
It wasn't known if it was the first time they've been on ice together but that seems doubtful given that Bieber keeps in touch with hockey and plays some while in L.A.. Gomez, from Texas, not exactly a hotbed of hockey, or skating, was not as adept as her boyfriend but, reports said, she does know how to skate.
Bieber only returned from finishing up the South American leg of his ongoing My World tour in the middle of the last week and appears to have gone straight home to Canada and straight into the arms of his girlfriend.
Gomez, who played Winnipeg the night before the hockey game, at the MTS Centre where the Jets play, has also played Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Saskatoon and she and her band The Scene are now off to play in Oshawa, Ottawa and Montreal.
Bieber, Gomez, Rent Winnipeg Theatre
The pop singer male and pop singer female went to a film Thursday night, renting out an entire theatre for, reportedly, $3400. The theatre was in a mall a little outside Winnipeg and they watched the movie Reel Steel, just the two of them.
On the ice they both wore Jets hockey jersey, Bieber with number 6 and the captain's 'C' on his jersey, and Gomez wearing the number 9. While Gomez had only little knowledge of the NHL while growing up, Bieber was, and still is, a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
No word on whether Bieber will be following his girlfriend on to Oshawa, visiting family in Stratford or returning to L.A.. His Christmas album, 'Under the Mistletoe', will be released Nov. 1.
