A lucky charm is usually an item that is believed to be able to protect a person from problems and everything evil, as well as bring luck and health to the owner. All these features a charm is considered to get from some internal power. This power goes from the charm to its owner and increases the person’s chances to successfully cope with hardships and diseases, and to effectively fulfill his or her plans. Historically, lucky charms were the first decorative accessories people wore.
Types of Lucky Charms in Feng Shui
Feng Shui distinguishes two types of lucky charms:
- Traditional Chinese charms
- Charms based on the knowledge of the 5 Feng Shui elements (water, wood, fire, earth and metal) and their interaction.
Among the traditional Chinese lucky charms are, for examples, figurines of gods, pictures of birds or animals, various coins, vases, candles, wind chimes, crystal lamps, and so on. Each of these items may be a very powerful and effective charm. In addition, each has its own symbolical meaning.
As for the second type of charms, the number of possible examples may be limited only by imagination.
How Talismans are Made and Work
Nearly any item may become a lucky charm. Besides, a charm may be represented by a color, a shape, or even a detail of interior design. It is so because a symbolical meaning is more important than its factual representation. Therefore, the effectiveness of such charms greatly depends on person’s knowledge and imagination.
Magic does not exist. Magic is what people can create on their own – by means of giving a new meaning to usual things. Lucky charms contain and carry the energy of its owner. That is why they work.
So, in order to make an own charm, give an item the image of your wish having clearly imagined your goal. In such a way the charm gets a ‘soul’ – the energy aimed at reaching your goal – and works for making the wish come true.
However, along with personal energy given to the charm, there also exist other energies – those of the surrounding environment and nature. According to Feng Shui, elements of fire, water, wood, metal and earth carry very powerful and unique energies, and are represented by various items. The energy of earth, for example, is present in gems and stones. So, being a representation of earth element, any gem chosen to be a lucky charm can provide its owner with both natural energy of the element and individual energy of the owner.
Any item can become an effective lucky charm if it is filled with the energy of its owner’s desire. Talismans that represent some Feng Shui element are even more powerful, because they support individual desire by the energy of the element.
