Give off the impression of a perfect body shape by dressing the middle figure shape, apple body type, correctly.

Only 14 percent of women are top-heavy or have an apple body shape. These women have larger breasts and a plump middle section, but usually have thin legs and a firmer lower body. If the bust is 3 or more inches bigger than the hips, welcome to the apple body type.

Another way to figure out the body type is to measure the bust, hips, and waist. An apple body type has a waist/hip and a waist/bust ratio of greater than .75.

Clothes to Avoid:

Clothes to avoid on a Middle-Figure shape are any styles that accentuate or are tight on the waist. Low-rise jeans are not the friend to the apple body type ladies. Neither are cropped shirts, belly piercings, and belts.

When the tummy area is the fullest part of the body, it is best to not accentuate that area. Stay away from drawing the attention to the waist. Avoid tops and pants that meet right at the fullest area of the waist. That goes for prints and belts as well.

Wardrobe Tips:

  • Because the bust is fuller, make sure to wear a properly fitted bra. Visit a professional bra fitting boutique. These highly-skilled professional wills make the chest look perky and find the best style of bra, which will also help slim the top part of the body.
  • For tops, stick with v-neck shapes, and other fine details that will draw the attention to the face. Great necklaces and earrings are simple, easy ways to draw attention to the face, same with an embellished neckline.
  • Wear tops that drape over the stomach area to conceal the tummy. Empire waist tops and dresses are the best style to look for. An empire waist style is where the waist begins just below the bust and flows outwards. Empire waists styles are usually flattering on everyone.
  • Dress in the same color family or monochromatic clothing to make a streamline illusion from neck to toes. Dressing in monochromatic, no matter what the color, is visually slimming as well.
  • For the bottom half, wear flared or boot-cut pant styles. These styles will add more shape and help balance the top part of the body. An a-line skirt will also help balance the body as well.
  • Apple body shapes usually have great, thin legs so show those puppies off. Making the legs look longer will always be more flattering.
  • Wearing a pattern on the bottom, never on top, will also direct attention where it should and help bring balance to the body as well.
