For the tarot enthusiast or those just looking for a fun way to waste time, free online tarot card readings are plentiful on the internet.
Not all free tarot card reading websites offer the same amount of options and information. Some, like the tarot readings offered by iFate.com, have many layouts to choose from, while others offer more simple and quick one click readings.
Well Designed Site, Easy to Navigate and Understand
Unlike many other sites of the same topic, iFate.com has a very nice design and is easy to navigate. It features a pretty dark blue theme, and has some unique illustrations to accompany the readings. The tarot card reading shows the cards in full detail set against an image of an aged parchment scroll.
The readings are simple, but interactive. Each reading starts by allow the visitor to type in their question or focus for the reading. Then the deck is virtually shuffled, as many times as the visitor wants, by way of a simple shuffle button. The deck of cards is then spread out at the bottom of the screen, and the visitor can pick the cards they want for the reading by clicking on the card backs.
Once all of the cards for the reading are chosen, the user is taken to the pages that explain each card. iFate is unique because it offers more information about each card — like information about the position in the layout — than most websites. This extra information can provide a deeper insight than a one-sentence card description that is the usual for online tarot card readings.
Plenty of Options for All Kinds of Readings
iFate.com also does a good job of offering many different layouts and different automated tarot card readings. There are eight layouts, from the basic three-card reading to extended 12-card layouts. Most of the readings, especially the longer and more complex ones, are dedicated to romance and love questions. These seem to be the most popular among visitors, no matter which site is offering the reading.
There are some interesting and unique layouts, such as Cupid's Arrow and the Chemistry layout. However, there are sites that offer more layouts, such as Facade.com. iFate also doesn't offer any other card deck options, only the generic Rider-Waite art that all sites offer. Facade.com offers 20 different card decks, while Llewellyn.com offers four exclusive decks for their free readings.
iFate.com Offers Tarot Card Readings, I-Ching, Astrology
Like many websites that offer tarot readings, iFate.com also has a wide variety of divination methods for free use on their site. It's possible to get an I-Ching reading, a rune reading, astrology information, and a daily horoscope in one visit. The quality of the horoscopes vary, but the other divination readings are very thorough.
One downside to this site is the number of ads that show up once the reading is over. The ads are fairly non-obtrusive during the reading process, but once the reading is over the final page is covered in ads. They also promote their own paid tarot card readings on the last page, but thankfully on the main page the free readings are the focus.
Alternatives to iFate.com
Although iFate offers quite a bit in terms of options and information, there are plenty of other options.
Facade.com is a popular option, which offers a comparable amount of layouts and 20 more card deck options. Lotus Tarot, at free-tarot-reading.net, is another option. Lotus Tarot offers saved card readings, but only offers the Major Arcana for the readings, which limits the meaning of the reading.
