After a rough August Finnish Pro Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies took Cole South for over $700,000 in one night on Full Tilt Poker.

Finnish poker pro Ilari Sahamies, also known as Ziigmund, tore up the Full Tilt Poker's high stakes Pot Limit Omaha tables September 8, 2010 for over $700,000 against high stakes regular Cole South. The Power Poker sponsored Finnish pro had a rough end to the month of August as he began action on the virtual felt after his long hiatus from poker during the 2010 World Cup, but his time against South proved to be very profitable.

Ziigmund Moves Big On South Over 800 Hands

Both Ziigmund and South are prone to massive swings that run into the millions of dollars. Ziigmund began August with hundreds of thousands of dollars in the red, but with two massive swings in the positive direction, one at the end of August for over $600,000 and the other on Wednesday night for an additional $709,000, the Finn is starting to push towards a good end to 2010. Full Tilt pro, Cole South, has not been so lucky as he has posted some serious beatings in the last few weeks.

Over 791 hands of Pot Limit Omaha on two Full Tilt $500/$1,000 tables Ziigmund dominated the match and at one time had over $1 million spread out between the two heads-up tables against South. On one particular hand Sahamies took down a massive $250,000 pot for an instant profit of $119,000 just on one hand. Don't count South as a bad player, he took took down some big pots even bleeding a few six-figure pots his way, but he was already in the hole for too many enormous hands that Ziigmund was not going to be beat.

Cole South Takes Biggest Losses of the Week

Due to his encounter with Ziigmund the Full Tilt online pro, Cole South, took the biggest beating of the week. With losing $648,000 to Sahamies, South lost nearly $200,000 more than the next closest high stakes cash game player. Part of his massive losses may have been from the fact he and Ziigmund were playing regular Heads-Up Pot Limit Omaha instead of Cap Pot Limit Omaha which has tended to be the norm for the $500/$1,000 tables to help keep the pot swings to a minimum.

Given that Pot Limit Omaha is a draw reading game and that the limits were so high to begin with, the losses South saw is more than likely part of a swing that he can easily come out off. The question that remains is whether Sahamies will continue is march into positive territory and stay there for the rest of the year? His swings can be just as drastic as Cole South's. No matter what, as the online poker season picks up this Fall it is very possible to see another high win and high loss match just like Wednesday's showdown between Cole South and Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies.
