The first, and hopefully not the last, novel by Stephen Jared is so captivating that readers will finish the book wishing they had another one to keep the story going. The storyline is perfect old Hollywood style reminiscent of any movie starring classic actors like Clark Gable or Humphrey Bogart. Though the book is a short story, it is so thoroughly packed with action, romance, and witty lines that readers will see the story play out as if it were a movie right before their eyes. Completely unforgettable, the book was enthralling and entirely impossible to forget.
Jack and the Jungle Lion by Stephen Jared
An action movie hero, a courageous and beautiful animal trainer, two kids and an alcoholic co-pilot find themselves marooned in the Amazon and facing all the dark perils it provides. From giant snakes, terrifying headhunters, poisonous arrows, and plane crashes, this unique band must pull together to make it out alive.
Stephen Jared added just the right amount of wit and drama to the dialogue to have some real laugh-out-loud scenes. The tension between Jack and Max blows to some interesting proportions and the “big goofball” of an actor has some hilarious one-liners that will keep readers smiling if not laughing.
Characters in Jack and the Jungle Lion by Stephen Jared
One of the best parts about Jack and the Jungle Lion is the characters. “Action Jack” Hunter is the quintessential ladies-man, with heroic movie roles under his belt, a swarm of fans pining for his attention and an ego to match. Stephen Jared perfectly matches Jack with a woman who not only courageously saves the day, but is able to resist Jack’s manly charm; Maxine (Max) Daniels.
Co-pilot Clancy, who is partly responsible for the plane crash, is the, often-times funny, peacemaker between Jack and Max and helps keep everyone in line. Tyler and Lindy, the children of the book, hold just enough star-struck awe for “Action Jack” to make for some interesting dialogue between the arrogant actor and the stubborn animal tamer.
Cover Art for Jack and the Jungle Lion by Stephen Jared
The book cover for Jack and the Jungle Lion looks like a vintage movie poster from the classical Hollywood era of the 1940’s. Stephen Jared, with his passion for old Hollywood, hired British Paul Shipper from New Zealand to create a magnificent piece of art reminiscent of the painted movie posters of old. Stephen Jared wanted to remind people of the lost art of painted posters and he certainly did just that.
