When rumors and stories on the internet seem far-fetched they more often seem to be that way because they in fact are. And here's one of the more far-fetched ones ever: Justin Bieber has spent one million dollars on Selena Gomez. A million dollars?
Unless he took her to the moon, no.
The sites online that began claiming it on Oct. 17th, 2011 are not identifying any real sources, many are not saying anything about where they got the information. Likely one site started the rumor, either from pure speculation or they may have simply made it up, and then the snowball effect came into play and others began making the same claim. And on and on.
Did Justin Bieber Spend a Million on Selena Gomez?
No matter how many say it, it doesn't make it true. Not only do we know it's not true because Bieber categorically denied it on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on the 17th (speaking to Seacrest from a Chilean hotel on his My World tour) but we know it's not true because we know Bieber. He's simply not that kind of a guy.
But some online sites keep pushing the rumors anyhow. "Bieber’s people are allegedly worried about all of the money he’s spent on Selena," one website, which shall remain nameless, claims. "Which reportedly adds up to at least $1 million.
"Justin you can’t buy love," the site goes on to say. "The Beatles even made a song about it “Can’t Buy Me Love.” Everyone is concerned that the pop sensation is spending too much cash in his desperate bid to impress his two-years-older girlfriend, Selena Gomez."
Justin Bieber: From Busking to Mansions
The reality is that Bieber does have enough money that he could spend almost any amount he wanted to spend on Selena Gomez. Or on you or anyone else for that matter. Figures released by Forbes last May show Bieber made an astonishing $53 million from May 2010 to May 2011.
Not bad for a 17-year-old who 3 years ago was busking on the streets of his hometown in Canada. But whatever the figure, he hasn't spent a million of it on Selena Gomez. How much has he spent on her? It's probable that the answer is this: just the right amount to show he cares.
And isn't that what we all spend on our significant others?
