Just when you thought you'd seen the last of promo material related to Justin Bieber's 3D biopic, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never the movie has managed to hit the entertainment news again. This time it's because of the release of a longer version called Justin Bieber: Never Say Never Director's Fans Cut. This version of the film will be out August 23, 2011.
Never say never, right?
The announcement was made August 5 in a press release from a magazine called Home Media Magazine and it notes that the film, directed by Jonathan Chu, will be exclusively available at Target stores. There is reason for fans to consider grabbing this version over the regular one released last May - it's 34 minutes longer. There are other added features, too.
Bieber's Never Say Never Includes "New Features"
This version is designed to be something that the hardcore Bieber fan will not be able to resist, despite the fact many will already own the previously released, shorter version. "The two-disc DVD with digital copy comes packaged in a collectible keepsake box," the press release says. "And along with more than an hour of new features, includes an exclusive Bieber necklace. It is listed at $29.95."
Justin Bieber himself got into the promo of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never Director's Fans Cut when he wrote this note about it on his Facebook page (the note, like the press release, went up on August 5): "spread the word! NEVER SAY NEVER FAN CUT comes out on 8.23 at TARGET!!" Bieber wrote. "It has the Director's Cut and tons of new behind the scenes new footage! @JonMChu is an absolute Beast! THANK YOU!"
Success of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never
When the flick first came out on DVD in May it quickly shot to the top of something called the 'Nielsen VideoScan First Alert' sales chart and since has spent time at the top of, or near the top of, DVD sales charts. The film was released in theatres on February 11, with Bieber attending openings in Toronto, his hometown of Stratford, New York, L.A. and London.
By March of 2011 the movie had become the most successful concert-themed film at the domestic box office, passing previous leader, Michael Jackson's This is It. Like the DVD, it was also released to theatres in two stages, with a longer version, the one now being released on DVD August 23, shown at theatres for one week last March.
