In a appearance on Ryan Seacrest's radio program Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, teen pop sensation Justin Bieber not only revealed his new single, Mistletoe, he also revealed that he's got a date for New Year's Eve. And it's not necessarily going to include Selena Gomez.
Bieber, currently finishing up a South American leg of his ongoing 'My World' tour, let everyone know he'll be with Seacrest on New Year's Eve because he'll be a guest on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest. Other guests scheduled for the yearly TV bash, the 40th annual, are Pitbull and Lady Gaga; Gaga signed on back in early September.
Justin Bieber: Times Square with Ryan Seacrest
The highly rated show has live segments in New York, where over one million gather in Times Square, and in L.A.. Bieber told Seacrest on the radio show "I think I'm gonna be with you" and Seacrest confirmed Bieber will indeed be with him in the show's New York segment.
Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas will host the L.A. segments this year. Each year Clark and Seacrest get top performers to appear and the list of who's been on the show includes top names such as Mariah Carey, Christina Aguliera, Jennifer Lopez, and The Black Eyed Peas. Last year Ke$ha and Taio Cruz performed from Times Square.
Clark, who turns 82 on November 30, 2011, has Type 2 diabetes and has had a severe stroke that saw him miss the 2004 show (Regis Philbin hosted). He brought on board Seacrest in 2005 and the host of 'American Idol' now does the lions share of hosting the New Year's Eve show. Rockin' Eve runs for 3 hours, breaks for an ABC news update, and returns for another 2-and-a-half hours.
Justin Bieber on Tour: Crazy Fans
Bieber spoke in the Seacrest interview about the fans on his tour in South America. "Every place I've gone the fans have been really like crazy. Like outside the hotels and I can't really go anywhere." He also talked about why he decided to do an album for the holidays, saying he wanted to get something out there for his fans and get out some original Christmas music.
It was the first time the news of Bieber appearing on the New Year's Eve show had been released.
