On Wednesday, July 18, 2012, American Idol Season 8 winner and RCA recording artist Kris Allen performed a concert that was streamed on StageIt, where the proceeds benefit the Music Empowers Foundation.

Set

Allen performed live from his upstairs living room, sporting a red Arkansas cap and a green-black checkered shirt. He opened with "Out Alive," a tune off his latest CD Thank You Camellia, that he co-wrote with Isaac Slade, the lead singer of The Fray.

He introduced a special guest to his virtual audience, which happened to be his dog Zorro.

It was followed by "Better With You," the opening track of his newest album, as well as "Monster," which was a fan-favorite.

Allen noted that he has never performed "Monster" by himself before without being backed by his fellow band members, Cale Mills and Chris Torres, however, his solo rendition was solid.

After a brief water break, he went on to sing "Blindfolded" which he declared as yet another favorite track of his from Thank You Camellia; the Arkansas native further noted that it was originally going to be on his eponymous debut record and he dusted it off and it wound up on his latest project.

Allen performed a cover song of Ellie Goulding's radio hit "Lights," and noted that he has a tendency to cover songs that are originally recorded by female artists.

"Thank you," Allen said prior to asking his fans who are following the show's live conversation on Twitter what his next song choice should be.

He continued with "Shut That Door," which had a blues vibe to it.

He took some time to answer some of his fan's questions, one of which was: "What is your favorite Celine Dion song?"

Allen responded with the Titanic theme song, and sang one of the verses of "My Heart Will Go On" acapella.

He went on to perform his signature song "Live Like We're Dying," which peaked at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts and continued with "Rooftops" and the melancholic "Leave You Alone."

"You guys are amazing!" Kris told his fans who were streaming the concert online. "I have the best fans in the world and I have no doubt about that. I will see you guys on the road."

He concluded by singing "You Got a Way," which ironically enough is the closing track on his CD.

The Verdict

Although his fans were not able to see Kris Allen in the flesh, he managed to put on a good show on StageIt tonight, as he simultaneously raised money for the Music Empowers Foundation. He proved that he can still move a virtual crowd, by singing alone and solo, with the help of his acoustic guitar.
