Kyle Busch has been in this position before. As Busch straps into his No. 18 M&M's car tonight, he again has the opportunity for the NASCAR sweep. The Irwin Tools Bristol Night Race held tonight August 21st, could see history made if Busch can make his way to the front from his 19th starting spot to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup event.
Kyle Busch is not afraid of making his way through traffic at Bristol. He has an uncanny knack for the rhythm that is required for this fast half mile bullring. Kyle Busch grew up on a similar but smaller track in Las Vegas called The Bullring at Las Vegas More Speedway. In his hometown of Las Vegas Kyle Busch is a 7-1 favorite to win the Irwin Tools Bristol Night Race.
Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski Could Have Issues Tonight
Kyle Busch won his NASCAR Nationwide race Friday night in controversial fashion and made no apologies in the post race interview with ESPN reporter Jamie Little.
"I raced him, raced him, raced him, I don't know, 12 or 15 laps? I thought I had him cleared up the back and I moved up in front of him and instead of him doing an (Dale) Earnhardt crossover, he decided to just run into the back of me and put me in the fence," Busch said as he laughed and began to describe what happened next.
"That's Brad Keselowski. So I went down into the next corner and I dumped him. He does it to everybody else, why can't I do it to him?" In an interview that took place later for ESPN Radio, Busch embellished and added his move was a "classic slide job." Busch added in the subsequent ESPN Radio interview as the crowd continued to boo and taunt him, "We will go for the triple tomorrow night in front of these lovely fans."
Kyle Busch & Keselowski had the Two Best Cars All Night
Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski both did their time at the front of the field most of the race with Kyle Busch leading the most laps. The more critical aspect of the duel resulted in the Joe Gibbs owned number 18 Z Line Designs extending the owner points lead to 74 points over the number 22 Roger Penske Discount Tire car.
Kyle Busch Wins NASCAR Truck Race From Last to First
Kyle Busch drove his own Kyle Busch Motorsports Truck from deep in the 36 car field after an engine change and charged to the front. It only took Kyle Busch 91 laps to make his way to the front and in the end it was a fuel mileage play that won him the race.
Milking his fuel for every last drop, Busch admitted he was running out of fuel on the second to last restart. In the end, Kyle Busch held off Aric Almirola, driving Kyle Busch's old No. 51 truck. The win was Kyle Busch's third consecutive Bristol Speedway win in a truck.
