The first season of Born to Dance on the BET Network ended on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, as choreographer Laurieann Gibson chose the competition winner.

On this season of Born to Dance, Laurieann Gibson chose 20 female dancers out of thousands who auditioned to live in a loft in Atlanta. Through a series of challenges and eliminations, including dancing in a music video, a live TV show taping, and a commercial, three dancers remained for the final challenge: Kristina (KC), Hennessy, and LaTonya.

Born to Dance - Final Day 1 - Rehearsal

In the previous episode, the dancers went through an audition for a chance to dance with Lady Gaga. They learned Laurieann's choreography for "Poker Face", and the three remaining dancers would perform on stage with Lady Gaga and her dancers.

KC, Hennessy and LaTonya got some final advice from Laurieann before they began rehearsal. For LaTonya, Laurieann said that her challenge would be staying on the rhythm and relaxing her face. KC needed to keep the "eye of the tiger" all the time and not check out of the performance in the middle of it. Hennessy needed to work on the choreography to get it perfect before the performance.

The dancers from Lady Gaga's Monster Ball tour joined the finalists in the studio, including Mark Kanemura from "So You Think You Can Dance", who has been touring with Lady Gaga for a few years. All of the dancers reviewed spacing and ran the routine a few times.

At dinner that night at the loft, Laurieann told the three finalists that she was proud of them, and the dancers said that they were all genuinely happy for each other to have made it to that point. They also expressed their appreciation to Laurieann for her caring and teaching.

Born to Dance - Final Day 2 - Concert

Upon arrival at the Gwinnett Center, most likely early in the morning, the finalists were surprised to see fans camping out, ready for the concert, many in costumes. They were first introduced to Wendi Morris, Lady Gaga's day-to-day manager, and then took a tour of the stage with Richy, Laurieann's assistant choreographer. All of the dancers did a walk-through on the stage to fix their spacing.

After the finalists went through hair and makeup, they were taken to meet with Laurieann and Lady Gaga. Gaga expressed her congratulations to the dancers, and talked about the love she feels while on stage, from her fans, the dancers, and the choreographers and staff. She said that her tour and her music are all about pursuing dreams and putting her soul on the floor. Her advice to the dancers was to "only keep people in your life that serve your gift and, once you get to the top, always serve those who have been there with you along the way."

The three finalists were then sent to wardrobe, and taken to the stage door by Laurieann. As they got ready to go on stage, Laurieann moved out to the audience to observe.

All three nailed the performance, staying in sync with the other dancers and adding their own personal styles. At the end of the song, only Lady Gaga, KC, Hennessy and LaTonya remained on stage.

Born to Dance - Final Day 3 - Decision

The next day, the dancers returned to the studio, and Laurieann began with a prayer, as she did at each elimination. She said that all three were amazing dancers, and are now professional dancers.

The winner of the $50,000 grand prize to start her dance career, as chosen by Laurieann, was LaTonya. After thanking Laurieann, Richy, Peanut and the other finalists, LaTonya interviewed that the $50,000 will help her make sure that her mom is taken care of while she goes to auditions and begins her dance career.
