Sometimes you're in the mood for movies that take place at a cottage. Whether it's a horror where teens are getting chopped up or a family fun movie, enjoy!

Cottage Comedy Movies
- American Pie 2 (2001) - This sequel to the hugely popular American Pie movie finds the gang back together for a summer together at the cottage. As per the previously established American Pie movie standards, the flick involves a lot of partying and lubricant.
- The Great Outdoors (1988) - A Chicago man takes his family on vacation to a lakeside cabin but his serenity is shattered when his in-laws show up.
- Weekend at Bernie’s (1989) - Two men trying to climb the corporate ladder are invited to spend the weekend with their boss, Bernie, at his weekend house. When the mafia has Bernie killed, the two eager beavers spend the weekend pretending their boss is still alive.
- What About Bob? (1991) - When a psychiatrist (Richard Dreyfuss) goes to a New Hampshire lakeside cottage for a month-long vacation with his family, his most neurotic and annoying patient follows him there and happily ruins his vacation.
Cottage Horror Movies
- Cabin By the Lake (2000) - In this made-for-TV movie, Judd Nelson plays a screenwriter who, in the name of research, drowns women and buries their bodies. One victim escapes and tries to capture him.
- Cabin Fever (2002) - This horror involves five college friends who take a vacation at a remote mountain cabin where a flesh-eating virus is on a rampage.
- The Cottage (2008) - In a remote cottage, three men are holding a woman hostage for ransom. Things get gruesome when the four people cross paths with a psychotic farmer.
- Dead Snow (2009) - A group of medical students on a ski vacation are terrorized by Nazi zombies.
Drama Cottage Movies
- Ask the Dusk(2006) - This movie about a love affair between an Italian man and his Mexican girlfriend challenge racial stereotypes. Some of the love scenes take place in a cottage on Laguna Beach.
- The Enchanted Cottage (1945) - The oldest movie in this list involves a young man and woman who marry out of loneliness. In time, the romantic spirit of the cottage where they live overwhelms the couple who begin to develop true feelings for one another.
- On Golden Pond - (1981) - Katharine Hepburn and Henry Fonda star as a married couple who spend every summer at their cottage. When their grown daughter comes to the cottage with her family, father and daughter strive to connect with one another.
- The Quiet Man (1952) - John Wayne stars as an American in this romantic flick; he plays a man attempting to outrun his past. While he is wrapped up trying to buy his ancestral cottage home, he is falling in love with a redheaded temptress.
Thriller Cottage Movies
- The Clearing (2004) - Robert Redford is kidnapped and held hostage in a remote cabin as his wife comes up with the ransom money.
- The Edge (1997) - Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin star in this thriller. A model and her much-older billionaire husband (Hopkins) go to a remote mountainous cabin to do a photo shoot. The model is having an affair with the photographer (Baldwin). When the model's husband and lover are in a plane crash, they clash as they try to get back to civilization.
- Secret Window (2004) - A tormented writer (Johnny Depp) lives in his cottage while he deals with a man who claims that the writer stole a story idea from him.
- The Vanishing (1993) - A man is curious if he is capable of kidnapping a woman. When he is presented with an opportunity to abduct Diane at a service station, he takes it. But Diane's boyfriend can't stop trying to find out what happened to the woman he loves.
