Mulberry announced on 9 June 2010 that it is partnering with Target on an October 10 2010 introduction of a limited edition capsule handbag collection, Mulberry for Target. The Target Mulberry collaboration will be available in most stores in the United States and on Target.com from 24 December 2010. Target did not reveal price points for the Mulberry collaboration.
Mulberry is the British fashion brand that has been making particularly desirable Mulberry bags and leather Mulberry goods since 1971 and has recently expanded its offering to Mulberry clothes. Mulberry attracts celebrity fans like Naomi Watts, Britney Spears, and Alexa Chung. Furthermore, Mulberry's tree logo handbags are known to be a Brit girl’s staple and must-have accessory.
Target Collaborates with High-end Designers
US retailer Target is well known for its high-end designer collaborations. Its previous collaborations for shoes, bags and accessories have included Zac Posen, Rodarte, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Proenza Schouler, Liberty Alice Temperley, Cynthia Vincent and Anna Sui. Target customers covet Target’s chic and yet cheap design collaborations for shoes, bags and accessories with world-renowned designers.
The Mulberry for Target collection is not Mulberry’s first high street design collection. In fact, Mulberry has actually created a high street design once before - for Gap's RED charity capsule collection a couple of years ago, which gave a whole new meaning to “cheap chic.
Mulberry for Target Designed by Designer of Mulberry Alexa Bag
The Mulberry for Target collection will feature the designer behind Alexa Chung's famed namesake bag, the Mulberry Alexa Bag. Emma Hill, the brainchild behind the Mulberry Alexa bag, was inspired when English style icon and former MTV hostess Alexa Chung was once photographed carrying the brand's masculine briefcase-like "Elkington" bag.
Subsequently, Mulberry paid homage to Alexa's unique sense of style by creating a satchel bag, the Mulberry Alexa bag, in her name. The Mulberry Alexa bag soon became an "It" bag, in its own right and Alexa Chung has been seen toting it around the Spring 2010 New York runway shows, much to fashionistas’ delight.
