Muse performed to a near sold-out Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on October 24, 2010.

The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey was nearly sold-out for Muse's second performance this week at the arena. Opening for the English rock band, was Metric a Canadian Indie and New Wave group which at varying times have been based out of Montreal, London, New York and Lose Angeles.

About Metric

The four-person band consists of vocalist Emily Haines, guitarist James Shaw, bassist Josh Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key. Their sound is definitely unique, bordering on haunting.Concert-goers were definitely in for a treat. Metric was no doubt, a passionate band that greatly played on the emotional response from the audience. Their singer involved the arena and played to them, making their performance much more enjoyable than a band that is simply there to be an opening act.

Muse: The Resistance

They set the mood for an amazing night, that was full of art, rhythm and the cohesive component to humanity that is known as music. By the time Muse hit the stage after the intermission, concert-goers were ready to hear everything that the Resistance Tour had to offer.

Just as usual, Muse brought with them an amazing show that kept people standing, singing along and rocking-out to the songs that they have all known by heart since before Resistance hit the air-waves in 2009.

Their set-list included:

  • Supermassive Black Hole
  • Resistance
  • Starlight
  • Feeling Good
  • Knights of Cydonia

And many more that uniquely define Muse as one of the world's strongest and most entertaining alternative rock bands. Their music can stand by itself, but at their shows, the energy that they exude and implore allows concert-goers to walk away feeling like they really were part of what they were watching and laid out money to see.

Muse's Background

Muse was formed in 1994 and has since been comprised of Matthew Bellamy (lead vocals, guitars, piano, keyboards, keytar), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass, backing vocals, keyboards, guitars, harmonica), and Dominic Howard (drums, percussion, synthesizers, backing vocals, sampling). They claim influences from bands such as Nirvana, Led Zeppelin and Queen. Their sound places them in the alternative rock-genre, but they clearly also borrow from electronica, hard rock and metal.

Overall, Muse did not disappoint during their performance. Fans were excited and a part of what they were watching as Muse performed many of their much loved songs. The fifth-leg of Muse's North American Resistance Tour will conclude in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 29, 2010 before the band goes to Australia to complete the Resistance Tour as a whole.
