With college football less than a month away the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook has set the over/under wins totals for 35 teams. The Mountain West Conference has three teams featured on the list, including BYU, UNLV and conference powerhouse TCU.
Notably absent is lame duck Mountain West Conference team, Utah. Utah travels to Notre Dame in the middle of the season but they could actually have a nine win season and give TCU a hard time in their trip to play TCU in Fort Worth. TCU meanwhile has the opportnunity to go undefeated in the regular season for the second concecutive year. The following are the three Mountain West teams posted by Las Vegas for over/under wins totals bets.
TCU Horned Frogs Over/Under Wins Total 11
The TCU Horned Frogs lost to future Mountain West rival Boise State to end their undefeated season. Many said after the loss it was proof that TCU was a paper lion. Now with a few key defensive players leaving for the NFL, TCU's strength may be their offense.
The return of Andy Dalton as the quarterback will be a huge boost to TCU and they will have to step it up offensively. The speed and aggressiveness of the defense should be equal to last year with seniors stepping up into key positions on the defense. Take TCU over 11 wins to go undefeated but don't play too much, it will be nerve racking.
BYU Cougars Over/Under Wins Total 8
BYU likes to play tough schools out of conference and this season is no different. BYU will take on the Washington Huskies to start the season and should win their opening game. In the third week they will play Florida State and an interesting game that could be tough for BYU, is their game against Nevada. BYU should be able to win nine games but if they two of their first four games the will fall right on the number with eight wins. BYU will cover the over and win 9 games.
UNLV Rebels Over/Under Wins Total 4
This over/under is posted because the lines are set in Las Vegas. It is an intriguing bet though. Bobby Hauck is a no nonsense but realistic coach and his goal is to make sure his team plays respectable against the big teams in the conference and to represent the conference in important out of conference games such as Wisconsin and West VIrginia. Take UNLV under 4 wins.
