South Carolina-based rock band, Needtobreathe performed for a packed crowd at MusikFest Cafe in Bethlehem, PA last night. In the midst of their Taylor Swift tour, the boys seemed excited to be playing a much more intimate venue than what this summer has brought them.
The Difference a Year Makes
"It's been a stupid year for us," explained lead-singer, Bear Rinehart. And it really has been for them as they have gone from a band with a solid, but small following to one that MTV named as a band to watch out for. As a group, they have spent the last year touring both North America and Europe to being the opening act for Taylor Swift's Speak Now tour. They have been going non-stop and have even finished working on their new album that is set to drop September 20th.
The band released two singles off their new record prior to last night's performance entitled Slumber and Drive All Night, both of which seamlessly blend their older style as heard in their 2007 The Heat album with what newer fans fell in love with on The Outsiders.
Needtobreathe at MuskiFest Cafe
Needtobreathe did not disappoint their fans last night. They came out strong, eager to put on the passionate, engaging shows that they are known for. They treated the audience with their two new singles before delving into several songs from The Outsiders.
What was most rewarding in being a concert-goer, is how much fun they made their show. Needtobreathe is a band that makes small, intimate shows a spectacular in many ways. Last night, they made their fans feel more like friends with conducting their entire performance as if concert-goers were privy to a personal view of their band's practice. The guys were being charismatic, funny and hoping in and out of different tunes and jams that kept the crowd engaged and eager to listen.
Bear and Bo Rinehart invited the audience to sing along with them, livening the energy when they got to Let Us Love and kept the momentum going plunging into guitar rhythms that would make even a guitar beast like Brad Paisley stop and admire.
Wrapping up the night, the boys performed an acoustic song like they usually do at smaller shows before going off into their version of Stand By Me which the audience continued to feed on as the electric energy of the night continued to flow. According to the band's facebook page, they will be in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday August 9th with Taylor Swift at the AllState Arena.
