Ghosts (Cubs), Goblins (Rays), and Gargoyles (Mets) await the New York Yankees in the 2011 baseball season. After 159 games, the Yankees' playoff hopes could rest on their performance in a season-ending series at Tampa Bay.
New York Yankees Season Opener for 2011
The 2011 major league baseball season begins on a friendly note for the Yankees, with 20 of their first 27 games taking place at Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees open the 2011 season on March 31 with a three-game home series against the Detroit Tigers followed by a four-game home series against the Minnesota Twins. The Yanks then embark on their first road trip of the season on April 8 with a three-game series at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox.
New York Yankees 2011 Interleague Games
The Yankees interleague schedule begins with a three-game homestand against the New York Mets on May 20 and continues on June 17 with a three-game trip to Wrigley Field to play the Chicago Cubs. After a three-game stop against the Cincinnati Reds (June 20-22), the Yankees return home for a six-game interleague homestand versus the Colorado Rockies (June 24-26) and Milwaukee Brewers (June 28-30). Interleague play concludes on July 1-3 with a road trip against the New York Mets.
The June 17-19 series against the Cubs is sure to bring up ghosts of Babe Ruth and his famous (or infamous, in some circles) "called shot" at Wrigley Field in the 1932 World Series.
New York Yankees 2011 Season-Ending Series
The final Yankees games of 2011 begin on September 26 with a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays in Florida. The season-ending road trip has the potential to determine the A.L. East Division champion for 2011.
Between the home opener against the Tigers and the final three games against the Rays, the Yankees play their usual number of contests against American League opponents, with the typical large helping of A.L. East games.
Other Yankees Games of 2011

The final Yankees homestand of 2011 takes place on September 20-25 with a two-game series against Tampa Bay (September 20-21) and a three-game series against the Red Sox (September 23-25).
The longest Yankees homestand of the year occurs on June 7-16 with ten games against the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, and Texas Rangers.
The Yankees have two nine-game road trips in 2011. The first road trip begins on May 27 with a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners, followed by a three-game series against the Oakland A's (May 30-June 1), and wrapping up with a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (June 3-5) .
