Allure of the Seas is the first of the Royal Caribbean cruise ships to showcase DreamWorks Animation entertainment at sea starting December 1, 2010.

On December 1, 2010, Allure of the Seas will feature some of DreamWorks Animation’s popular animated characters integrated within the cruise ship’s onboard entertainment. Guests will enjoy character meals, ice skating shows, 3-D movies and photo opportunities.

Allure of the Seas Onboard Entertainment

Departing from Fort Lauderdale on December 1, 2010 for a special four-night sailing, the Allure of the Seas will be the first cruise ship to feature DreamWorks-style entertainment with some new cruise ship technology.

In June 2010 Royal Caribbean announced their alliance with DreamWorks Animation, a world-class animated film studio. The partnership promised to bring the next generation of family programming and entertainment to the high seas. DreamWorks is responsible for the popular feature animated films, Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon.

To kick off the commencement of this partnership, Princess Fiona from Shrek was named the godmother of the Allure of the Seas. Then, on November 28, 2010, Princess Fiona appeared on a movie screen at the naming ceremony to electronically break the champagne bottle on the ship's hull.

The alliance equates to a variety of new shows, activities and live celebrity character appearances. Allure of the Seas will be host to Shrek, Fiona and Puss in Boots of Shrek, Alex, Mort, and the Penguins of Madagascar and Po of Kung Fu Panda. Additionally, Royal Caribbean's popular ice-skating venue will feature the characters, such as Hiccup, from the film How to Train Your Dragon in a spectacular ice show.

Special events will include lively character parades, interactive character meals and photo opportunities. The Allure of the Seas has been outfitted with new 3-D technology in the ship's theater in order to show 3-D animated movies. As of December 12, 2010, the Allure of the Seas will also offer an Aqua Theater show featuring the characters of Madagascar, complete with acrobatics and high-diving stunts.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships with DreamWorks Entertainment

Although the Allure of the Seas is the only Royal Caribbean cruise ship to offer the DreamWorks entertainment features currently, other ships are scheduled to follow suit during 2011.

Debuting January 30, 2011, the Liberty of the Seas will be the second Royal Caribbean ship to feature character meals, a DreamWorks characters parade, a 3-D movie theater and first-run DreamWorks films onboard. The Oasis of the Seas will debut with her entertainment upgrades on February 26, 2011 and the Freedom of the Seas will showcase the new DreamWorks enhancements on March 27, 2011.
