Nintendo Put the Retro Old School in Super Mario Wii

Can you capture Princess Peach in the New Super Mario Wii? What will Mario, Luigi and the Toads find? What obstacles and worlds will they endure?

Princess Peach is having a birthday party. Wait a minute! These guys aren’t invited. Wait a minute! They have captured Princess Peach. What will the happen to the Mushroom Kingdom? Can you rescue Princess Peach?

That right there is the New Super Mario Wii.

Who Are The Cast of Characters?

You’ll quickly recognize the hero cast of characters, which include Nintendo icon and plumber, Mario, his younger brother Luigi, Yvan, the blue Toad and Wolly, the yellow Toad. Who are the bad guys? The reprehensible Koopalings are menacing the Magic Kingdom and are up to no good. Wendy, Ludwig, Roy, Larry, Iggy, Morton, Lemmy and of course, Bowser, Jr. are all doing Bower’s dirty work.

Where Will You Run Into This Cast of Characters?

It could be in any one of the six new worlds.

In the first world, you’ll find some basics to get you going with mushroom hills and graphics. Once you get going, be prepared to take it to the barren desert. Stay cool as you navigate your way in the heat and steer clear of quicksand traps! You’ll have no choice but to stay cool as you enter world three with the winter wonderland of snow capped mountains and chilly caves.

You can always use the new Power Up penguin suit to become Penguin Mario! Let’s get out of the cold and move into world four. You’ll find a tropical paradise full of palm trees and deep waters. Once you reach world five, things get a little more intense as you maneuver through swamps and piranhas. If you can scale a mountain and sneak through caves, you may triumph through the last level, which is world six.

What Are Some Extras?

The all New Super Mario Wii is full of new adventures, tricks and conquests. There is multi-player capability and cooperation and competitive settings. You can pair up your heroes to double team the villains. Bring in a Yoshi character to give you a ride and use their weapons. Or be a little competitive and throw one of your comrades into the fire and move on!

For those old school Mario fans, you won’t be disappointed though with the well-known screens, animations, coins, familiar sewer pipes, fire flowera, super star, POW block and mushrooms. If you grew up playing Super Mario and loved it just the way it was, this game is for you with a little extra.

This game is fun for the entire family. Rated E for everyone. Nothing offensive about it unless you have a problem with bright colors and cheerful music.

GameSpot score is a 9.5 and Editor's Choice. Critics score is a 9.7 and User Score is a 9.2.
