Planning a family holiday? Consider taking Rover along too. There are a number of caravan parks in South Australia that offer accommodation for pets. Forget the added expense of boarding kennel fees or organising a neighbour to feed pets, take them away too and let them explore a world that they are unaware exists.

Pet-friendly Caravan Parks in Northern South Australia

Riba's Underground Camping and Caravan Park is the world's only underground camping ground and is located in Coober Pedy. Dogs are invited to stay, however they must remain leashed and are not permitted in showers, underground, near barbeques or eating areas. An opal mine tour operates in the evening and a television room, laundry and kitchen facilities are supplied for guests.

The two and a half star Marla Travellers Rest in Marla, provides the ideal stopover for families travelling from Adelaide to Alice Springs. Dogs on leash are permitted to stay, along with other pets, including horses, on application. Pets are not permitted to stay in onsite accommodation. The Marla Travellers Rest provides a pool and Sky TV for guest use.

Pet-friendly Caravan Parks in Southern SA

The four star Limestone Coast Tourist Park in Mount Gambier invites pets to stay at manager's discretion. Pets are not permitted to stay in onsite accommodation facilities and must be kept on leash and under control at all times. Guest facilities at the tourist park include powered sites with ensuite and dump point, kiosk, enclosed barbeques and camp kitchen. There is also a games room, basketball court and playground for the children.

In Aldinga, the Beach Woods Eco Tourist Park is the ultimate family holiday location and invites responsible pet owners to stay. While leashed dogs are common guests, accommodation for horses is also available. The Tourist Park provides a swimming pool, tennis courts, giant chess board, games room and two playgrounds to entertain the kids, along with a large camp kitchen, shop and salon.

While dogs are not permitted in any of the park's onsite accommodation, kennels are provided for pet owners who plan to explore the nearby national park. The Flinders Ranges Caravan Park offers guests the use of free barbeque and coin operated laundry facilities.
