Finding a job can be tough, but the web has many sources to start looking for work in something related to hiking.

Looking for a job that involves hiking or backpacking? There are several websites that cater to the outdoor industry, and have job boards that often have postings for jobs. Because it doesn’t matter if a candidate has the training or the qualifications without knowing where to look.

Finding Jobs With Outdoored.com

Outdoored.com has a variety of sections for outdoor professionals, including a tab for a job search engine. Click on the jobs link and “search for jobs,” on the pull-down menu. The search page allows users to enter criteria based on region, category, state, different kinds of populations that are served, activity, and job type. It is also possible to search by job title, or even a specific company.

Finding Jobs With the Association for Experiential Education

The Association for Experiential Education, or AEE, also has a job search engine. Click on the “EE Jobs” tab and “View Jobs” to be taken to the search engine. The search page can be configured to find jobs by type, location, and keyword search. There’s also a place where job seekers can upload their resumes for potential employers to view.

Finding Jobs With the American Camping Association

The American Camping Association also has a job search center for potential employees. These include full-time positions as well as seasonal summer camp positions with the association’s members. There’s even a section to click for summer camp job fairs. Candidates can also post their resume online for companies to view.

Finding Jobs With Backdoorjobs.com

This website caters to those looking for seasonal employment, such as working at camps, ranches, and the hospitality industry. There’s also a section for wilderness therapy jobs, which may have more opportunities for full-time employment. It lists several companies and their descriptions, as well as links to applying for a job. Another section of the website talks about positions teaching abroad, and also volunteering.

Finding Jobs With the NOLS Mailing List

The National Outdoor Leadership School has a mailing list for its alumni to connect with job openings. The mailing list periodically emails members announcements for new positions across the United States, and sometimes internationally as well. Also, a job seeker can unsubscribe to the list if they want to.

Finding Jobs With USAJobs.gov

Interested in working for the United States government? USAJobs.gov is the official website for job postings with the federal government. These could include working for national parks, forests, the Bureau of Land Management, and other federal agencies.

With so many outdoor companies online, the web is a natural place to look for an open position. Knowing how to find a hiking or backpacking job can make a big difference in the job search process.
