Lenovo, the world’s fourth biggest PC maker, launched their new ThinkPad laptop models, aiming to double the company’s sales this year, said state media and PC experts on Monday (May 10, 2010) and last Friday (May 7, 2010).
"The new model ThinkPad T410i has come to both China and foreign market,” said the Guangzhou-based Nanfang Daily in a notebook report on May 10. Computer experts and wholesalers said that the booming new ThinkPad models would help Lenovo achieve their sales goal – the PC giant plans to double their sales in 2010 compare to the 2009 level.
"A ThinkPad wholesaler gave me their product catalogue, which lists more than 200 models of ThinkPad notebooks. With new popular models such as ThinkPad X100e and Edge, said the wholesaler, they can double the sales of ThinkPad and Lenovo laptops this year,” said the Beijing-base Qudao168.com in a laptop market report on May 7.

Qudao168.com said in the report that many Lenovo wholesalers had received the target to double their sales of ordinary ThinkPad notebooks, and increase 20% of the expensive models.
According to the IDC, Lenovo sold 7.871 million units of PC computers in the fourth quarter of 2009, after the 17.803 million units of HP, 11.458 million units of Acer, and 10.683 million units of Dell. If Lenovo can double their sales in 2010, they may overtake Acer and Dell, becoming the No.2 computer brand in the world.
"The double sale target is not difficult to us,” said a Beijing-based ThinkPad wholesaler, as quoted by the Qudao168.com. In fact, Lenovo’s sales grew rapidly this year. In the first quarter of 2010 Lenovo overtook HP with 2.34 million units of personal computers, becoming the No. 1 PC providers in the Asia Pacific areas. The wholesaler said that two factors boost the sales of Lenovo and ThinkPad: the booming new models provide more choices for laptop buyers; and the low prices of new models attract much more customers than other brands do.

The new models that boosted the sales of Lenovo include ThinkPad X201, ThinkPad T410, ThinkPad Edge 14, ThinkPad X100e and Lenovo G550, according to the wholesalers. These models were also the most popular laptops sold in the United States in April, according to the notebookreview.com.
