Art Exhibits in Seattle, Autumn and Winter 2010
A prestigious traveling exhibition of Picasso art works is on display at the Seattle Art Museum from October 8, 2010 through January 17, 2011. More than 150 of Pablo Picasso’s paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and photos, representing each phase of his noteworthy career, are exhibited for the first time in the Northwest. These works are on loan from the Musee National Picasso in Paris where Picasso’s personal collection is housed.
The Harry Potter art exhibition, at downtown Seattle’s Pacific Science Center, is on display from October 23, 2010 through January 30, 2011. Inspired by the Harry Potter film sets, the dramatic displays offer a look at the craftsmanship behind authentic costumes and props from the films at the only West Coast venue to host this collection. The adjoining IMAX Theater is showing a Harry Potter Film Festival from October 22 through December 16, 2010.
Dance Performances and Southeast Asian Cultural Traditions in Seattle
The Pacific Northwest Ballet presents ”All Tharp,” a program of American dance icon Twyla Tharp’s works accompanied by music by composers from Brahms to Mickey Hart, from November 5 to 14, 2010. Three of Twyla Tharp’s ballets are performed at McCaw Hall, known as one of the great performance halls of the world, in downtown Seattle.
Experience true Southeast Asian culture at the Hmong New Year Celebration on November 6, 2010, at the Seattle Center. Welcome in the lunar New Year, as the Hmong Association of Washington presents a day of cultural traditions of the Hmong people of China, Laos and Thailand. Dance, traditional music, historical exhibits and rituals will be performed.
Best of the Northwest Art and Fine Craft Show in Seattle
From November 12 to 14, 2010, more than 200 established and emerging artists will present their visual works at Pier 91’s Smith Cove Cruise Terminal in Seattle. The Northwest Art Alliance’s Fall Show includes art, performance and music as well as wine and food. Exhibitors will showcase paintings, metal works, glass designs, jewelry, designer clothing and more. Art talks, strolling musicians and wine tastings from Washington’s boutique wineries are all part of this event.
