What causes writer's block and a foolproof solution which never fails.

Writer's block is feared by many a writer. Each writer experiences it differently but commonly writer's block manifests as an empty page which either remains empty, or on which nothing of apparent value is written. Typically the writer feels they have nothing to say, which can be terrifying.

Best Solution Writer's Block

The best solution to writer's block is to keep writing. And it doesn't matter what you write, as long as you keep writing. Pen to page or fingers to keyboard, and write. If nothing wants to come out of the pen, then start by writing, grass, leaves, twigs, flowers, blossoms, and keep repeating it until something different appears.

The most important thing is to keep writing. Do not lift your pen from the page, and do not stop moving it. Do this for ten minutes or until the flow begins.

The second most important thing is to not care about what comes out of your pen. It is completely irrelevant in the process of clearing writer's block. What is relevant is a stream of words. If you censor what you write through this process, you reinforce the block.

Cause of Writer's Block

Mostly, writer's block comes from an inner censor who says snidely, and often; why are you trying to write, you've got nothing to say, what use are you as a writer?

This inner censor is the antithesis to creativity and the only way past it is literally to close your eyes to it and move that pen. Once your creativity kicks in, it will continue.

The Inner Censor

The inner censor has no place in writing. The job of the censor does not begin until the work is done and needs editing. At the editing stage the censor is critical, but it must not be allowed anywhere near your creative process.

Creative writing is utilised by any writer who works with passion at his task. A financial report or business correspondence can be creatively written - not as fiction, but with vitality. The same process as for clearing writer's block should be used....bypass the inner censor.

Write everything you know about your subject without stopping your pen, and everything you don't know about your subject, and everything you know related to your subject. If you don't stop the pen and just let fall onto the page the words the pen wants to write, you will have well written material, whether it's a newsletter, a novella, or a newspaper article. Yes, most assuredly, you will need to edit it, but all writing needs to be edited. Now you can let your censor out. Because you have cleared the block.

This solution for clearing writer's block is foolproof and works every time without fail.
