By being more conscious of your daily habits, you can now choose to reach your full potential and be successful in business, love, and life.

Where you end up at in life is largely determined by your own self-image and self-esteem. If you’re not happy with your life, you have subconsciously chosen this. Although it seems silly that anyone would choose to be unhappy, each and every decision you’ve made has led you to where you are right now.

Focus On Your Potential

First, focus on your potential. In other words, get a pen and pad of paper or get on your computer and make a couple of lists. What things are you good at doing? Write down anything and everything, no matter how mundane or seemingly small. How can you be a success in business? How can you make your life a success? What are your dreams and goals?

Once you’ve made a list of your talents, make a second list of things you enjoy doing or would like to do. It doesn’t matter if you’re good at these things or not, the point is to write down what you enjoy.

Number One Success Secret

This is one of the best ways to be successful in life — doing what makes you happy! Keep in mind that success has a lot more to do with it than making a lot of money. Success is also based on how happy you are in your line of work, having a lower stress level, being able to spend more time with family and friends, and spending more time doing what you enjoy. Don’t back yourself into a corner thinking that the only way to be successful is by collecting a huge paycheck.

If you do what makes you happy in life, it will seem more like play rather than work. You’ll be more enthusiastic, feel more creative, and your energy levels will stay consistent rather than the constant roller coaster you may be riding now. If you can’t stay interested in your work, success will be hard to come by and it will quickly slip through your fingers.

Define Your Goals

Be certain that your goals are clear and attainable. Simply saying, “I want to be rich!” or, “I want to lose weight!” is not well defined. Create focused goals such as, "I will lose 35 pounds within six months." Also, give yourself a reasonable time frame in which to accomplish your goal, and set up mini-goals along the way.

Set Realistic Goals

You’ve got to be honest and realistic about any goals you’ve set. Some people set goals so high they’d never be able to reach them. That’s a sure recipe for failure! Instead, take a good look at what you’re truly capable of, what your true potential is, and set up small goals along the way. Success is like climbing stairs; slowly but surely you’ll make it to the top.

Do Your Research on Your Goals

What exactly do you need to reach your goal? What will it take? How much time or money or training? Get online, talk to people, do research and find out all you can. In doing so you may discover you don’t actually want to pursue this particular goal, or you may find another way to attain it, or you could discover it’s easier than you at first thought.

Practice Visualization

Each and every day visualize yourself being successful. Whatever your goal or dream, imagine yourself in the future in as much detail as possible. What would life be like if you had that ideal job, more money, lost weight, got that degree, or whatever else you’re trying to achieve? Visualize your future self and future life and get all of your senses involved. What would your life feel, sound, smell, taste and look like? This is training your brain to pursue and attract what you need to make it happen.

Your Own Success Story

No matter what type of success you’re going after, it all comes down to the fact of developing your full potential at whatever it is you set out to do. So often people remain unhappy and unfulfilled simply because they haven’t tapped into their hidden talents and desires.

Whether you’re trying to get a degree, perfect a sport, win the love of your life, have a bigger circle of friends, or make a million dollars, by creating a solid blueprint for success you’re more likely to get there than not. Be your own success story!

I agree with the whole visualisation thing. I was watching Oprah the one day and i tried what they spoke about. If you write down what your goals are, be very specific, fold the paper up, burry it or leave it in you handbag or whatever and see how you goals get achieved. I did it, i put exact dates of when i wanted certain things to happen, it did not happen on the exact date but it happend a few days in the one case and a few weeks later in another case. all you have to do is believe in yourself and have true desire!

Great article. I have always thought that the best way to be successful was by getting big pay-checks. That's not all to life. Devoting time to your family is another secret of family happiness which people have ignored in pursuit of self fame and money. I have great goals which i think i can attain before the age of 35. Drive them dream cars, live in them big houses and possibly go onto the property ladder. These are but basic goals which i want to achieve without sounding too over ambitious.
