Thanksgiving quotes from the Bible to thank the Creator for His gifts, and to praise Him for all the blessings that continuously flow.

Some of the best thanksgiving quotes and passages to reflect on are provided in this article to especially commemorate Thanksgiving Day. However, thankfulness to God doesn't have to be performed only on special occasion. Those who faithfully recognize and depend on His boundless blessings show their praises and gratitude regularly.

Prayer and Songs of Gratitude

King David, a well-known psalmist, prays to God out of love and gratitude. The book of Psalms is full of his praises.

"Who am I, O Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?" ~2 Samuel 7: 18

"How great you are, O Lord! There is no-one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears." ~2 Samuel 7:22

David is grateful when the Lord delivered him from his enemies and from the hands of his predecessor, King Saul, who wished to kill him out of deranged jealousy. King David's song of praise continues in the entire passage of 2 Samuel 22. In particular, the second and the third verses are most popular and often quoted.

"The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my Saviour – from violent men you save me." ~2 Samuel 22: 2-3

"Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him." ~Psalm 98: 1

"Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him." ~Psalm 33: 1

Thankful for God's Faithfulness

The entire passage of 1 Kings Chapter 8 relates to a significant event when King Solomon summons all his leaders, chiefs of families and the people of Israel during a festival. The Ark of the Lord's covenant was brought to the Temple and they had a special thanksgiving for God's faithfulness to them. Solomon blesses them and declares his opening words.

"Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his own hand has fulfilled what he promised with his own mouth to my father David." ~1 Kings 8:15

Then he continued with his prayer of dedication followed by the dedication of the temple.

Thankful for Food

This favourite biblical story pertains to Jesus' feeding of the five thousand people. It is the famous miracle when Jesus turned the five loaves of bread and two small fishes to feed the hungry crowd.

There was nothing to eat, and they found a boy among the crowd who had the loaves of bread and the small fishes. In John 6: 11, Jesus then took the five loaves of bread and the two fishes, gave thanks, and distributed to the entire multitude.

Thankful for Wisdom

Daniel is a prophet in the Bible who became famous interpreting dreams. In his time, he became one of the most important figures in the court. He acknowledges God, thanks and praises Him for wisdom:

"Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning." ~Daniel 2: 20-21

Thankful for God's Enduring Love

For anyone who trusts in God, not even sufferings and all other pains can prevent one from thanking Him. Giving glory and praise to the Creator should be done at all times, and like the psalmist, a habit to cultivate. In fact, thankfulness should overflow for God's blessings.

"My tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long." ~Psalm 35: 28

"Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever." ~Psalm 106:1
