All-In-One Computer Reviews

The new all-in-one technology is intriguing, but make sure you are getting the best bang for your buck when it comes to these innovative touchscreens.

Technology has come a long way since the first computer went up for sale. From desktops to laptops, to netbooks, tablets, and even phones, the choices for personal computing vary greatly. The most recent innovation in desktop computers is the All-In-One model.

For those consumers that are intrigued by the touchscreen but don’t want to give up monitor size, the all-in-one may be perfect for you. After careful research and hands-on experience, here are the top 5 recommendations for those looking for a little innovation in their new desktop.

1. Apple iMac

The all-in-one model is nothing new for Apple. Their iMac has been a combined unit for years, but their newer models boast either a 21.5-inch or a 27-inch monitor with LED backlit display screens. They have also improved the processor architecture to make the overall performance of the machine more fluid with faster graphics.

The multi-touch screen allows you the choice of a traditional keyboard and mouse, or your fingertips. Overall the performance, style, and technology make the Apple iMac the best choice – but only if you can afford the starting price of $1199.

2. Dell Inspiron One 2305

As one of the more sleekly designed all-in-ones, the Dell is built to be an entertainment hub. With a built in Blu-ray player, HDMI inputs, and a 23-inch display, you could literally get rid of your television. Though the touchscreen is fairly responsive, and sensitivity can be controlled, using a keyboard and mouse is the way to go.

It is not the fastest performer in its price range, but it is one of the better Windows-based all-in-one desktops out there. If you are looking for a basic family computer, gaming, or entertainment center, for the starting price of $599, this is a great choice.

3. Acer Aspire Z5

Though at first sight, the machine looks clunky and heavy, don’t be fooled. The Acer all-in-one is a desktop performer with speed and processing power on par with Apple’s iMac. With a 23-inch screen, it is the only all-in-one with a 1080p display and gets a leg up with its HDMI input. Its touchscreen is the most responsive with “pull down” and “page turner” features.

The only thing holding this model back from being in the number two spot on this list is the high starting price of $1,099 and the lack of Blu Ray player.

4. HP Touchsmart 600

The curvy, black, glossy design of the HP immediately pulls you in and makes you want to test out the touchscreen. Unfortunately, the slow and sometimes unresponsive display is noticeable right away. Overall performance is lacking, even though the ability to connect and switch between external video sources is the best of any of the other all-in-one models.

Some of its best features include app partnerships and integrations with Hulu, Twitter, and Netflix to name a few. HP has even taken the space saving aspect to the next level by having the display capable of being mounted to the wall. With the starting price of $1,149, you are paying more for the application integration than the machine performance.

5. Lenovo IdeaCentre A600

If you are looking for a basic all-in-one computer for a reasonable price, the Lenovo might be for you. With a high resolution 21.5-inch LCD display, wireless connectivity and a fairly large hard drive, the system meets standard requirements.

With a starting price of only $749, you get a great quality screen for a great price. However, if you want to use the desktop for anything besides watching movies and storing music, I would recommend a different all-in-one where you get more for your money.
