Take a look at what some of the top movie reviewing websites had to say about the third instalment of the Twilight Saga, Eclipse.

Twilight, the sultry love tale of teenage girl, Bella Swan, played by actress Kristen Stewart, and dreamy vampire, Edward Cullen, played by actor Robert Pattinson, debuted in movie form in 2008. Since then, the second instalment of the series, Twilight New Moon hit theaters in 2009 and now, in 2010, the third movie version of the best-selling Twilight books, has hit the big screen.

Plot Summary of Twilight Eclipse

Eclipse, finds main female protagonist, Bella Swan, in trouble, once again, as a vicious female vampire continues on her quest for revenge. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella must choose between her love for Edward Cullen and her friendship with Jacob Black, ultimately pitting vampire against werewolf.

While the struggle over her decision between true love and friendship ensues, Bella is also presented with another life changing decision, whether to remain human or become immortal.

Aside from the drama created within the love triangle of human, werewolf, and vampire, a newborn army of deadly vampires comes forth to battle the Cullen family. Jacob comes to the aid of fellow werewolf, Leah in a grueling battle against one of the newborns, and is severely injured.

Movie Reviews for Twilight Eclipse

On its first day in the box office, Eclipse brought in a not-too-shabby, $69 million. In its first five days in theaters, the third installment of the Twilight series brought in $161 million, slightly short of its predecessor, New Moon, which brought in $164 million in the same period in 2009. Despite those incomes, movie-goers gave this newest vampire thriller a mediocre review at best.

The Internet Movie Database (IMBD) - As of July 5, 2010, Twilight's Eclipse, had a rating of only 4.5 stars out of a potential 10, based on just under 14,000 votes. Just over 35% of voters, rated the movie at 1 star, while a rating of 10 was given by just under 30% of the voting population. Comments regarding the poor quality of acting and visual effects fill the review boards. The movie rated highest, not surprisingly, with females under the age of 18.

Rotten Tomatoes - A site that sums up what critics are saying about all of the box office and blockbuster hits has Eclipse sitting at a rating of 5.6 out of 10. A slightly higher rating, than IMBD, this review is based on 185 reviews as of July 5, 2010. The consensus among voters on this website is that despite the love triangle and increased action, the film is simply full of too many characters who spout a dull dialogue.

At the Movies - Professional movie critics, Michael Phillips and Tony Scott disagree over whether Eclipse deserves a thumbs up or a thumbs down. With Phillips feeling that the film was severely lacking in a number of areas, especially in terms of dialogue and Tony feeling that it was, by far, the best of the series, thus far, a tie-breaker is brought in with expert film analyst, Ann Thompson. Thompson breaks the tie, giving the film a positive review.

Team Edward or Team Jacob

Throughout The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, main actress, Bella Swan, is faced with a number of trying decisions as she nears a life changing time in her life; graduation. A romantic love triangle results between Bella, Edward, and Jacob creating suspense for viewers as Bella struggles to make a decision between the two boys. In addition to the romance, Bella is also faced with whether to remain mortal and human or become immortal as a vampire.

Eclipse answers one of these questions to the triumph and simultaneous dismay of "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob" fans. However, it leaves the other unanswered. Fans of the saga will have to wait for the two-part Twilight finale, Breaking Dawn, set to hit theaters in 2011 and 2012, or sit down with the novels.

I think it was an amazing movie! They did a great job at portraying the important parts and emotions from the book. I think that a lot of the actors from the previous movies have improved their acting and connections to each other. there were a few things that I wish they had done differently but over all it exceeded my expectations!

Eclipse was by far the best movie out of the three, and I'm glad that they could sign all of the main characters to do the two episodes of the last movie.
Team Edward all the way.
But are you Team Raphael?
Check out this new movie that I found on Facebook.

Worst movie I've seen in 20 years (next to the last one). For 12 year old and under only. How fake the ceramic heads were as they were being decapitated. Horrible acting. Too much of the shirtless "wonder" scenes. The whole movie mostly showed 2 enlarged heads (the stars) on the screen with boring l-e-n-g-t-h-y silly, repetitious talking. Nice scenery, but didn't get to see it as two large heads were in the way. No fangs? Definitely not True Blood!

The director was smart to leave out all the details of the book and cut to just the basic story. I thought David Slade did a pretty good job, though nowhere near what the Catherine Hardwicke brought to the first movie. There was some shmaltzy background music which I didn't like, but nothing compared to the soundtrack from New Moon, which was horrendous.

myself and my husband went to see eclipse on opening day, and were utterly disappointed. the film could have done with being longer, as it missed out important parts from the book. god, i hope breaking dawn is better :(

Edward always looks in pain and a stoner. Why did the directors choose someone HOT to be edward. I swear, the movies SUCK, this is one series that was1000% better as books, they should have stayed books. I have wanted to claw my eyes out during all 3 movies.

i thought it was good! even though i read the book and knew what would happen i still thought it was entertaining. the acting was great! i really likeed it and i think it's probably my favorite of the three.
the only thing i did not like was when they showed them ripping off heads and then showing the lifeless heads on the ground. haha i couldn't help but laugh at that. i'm not sure how they could have done that much differently though. it's different reading about someone's hand being ripped off and then seeing it in a movie. it's meant to be read, not seen, if you know what i mean. it was kind of weird.
but other than that i think it was great! it stuck to the book wonderfully and therefore had a great plot. great pace and it never was boring! love!

After the disappointment of New Moon (truly one of the worst movies EVER), today I decided to give the movie franchise another go. Eclipse was a huge improvement - amazing what a different director can do - less wooden acting & well crafted action scenes. Also, I liked that the movie stayed reasonably faithful to the book. My friends & I really enjoyed it. As to the final movie, I don't think Breaking Dawn will be translatable to the screen - I think parts of it will come accross as ridiculous and laughable - I really had hoped they wouldn't make a movie (let alone 2 of them) - and I'm a huge fan of the Twilight series. Oh, and Go Team Edward!

i was very unhappy with this film. i think it was too fake, the make-up was bad, the dialog was bad, the acting was bad, and none of the original characters looked right. and why did victoria get changed so much? she's supposed to be wild. this movie made her look like she was ready to go to a party or something. horrible director.
