Welcome to Camden, Maine! Camden is located in the scenic Midcoast area along Route 1 and is a refreshing mix of outdoor activities and upscale restaurants.

Located in between two other not-to-be missed Maine towns, Belfast and Rockland, Camden has a lot to offer any traveler. Whether you enjoy fine cuisine, sailing, or hiking, Camden is an ideal spot for a Maine vacation.

Where to Eat in Camden

Francine Bistro is a must-try restaurant located in downtown Camden, featuring local ingredients and a menu that changes daily. The Steak Frites is out of this world. Paolina's Way is another great choice for dinner in the area with a handmade brick wood-fired oven and a commitment to running as a green business. Try Peter Ott's, the favorite local steakhouse.

For before or after dinner drinks, try The Waterfront to sit on a deck overlooking the harbor during the summer. For the wine aficionado, walk to Ephemere Cafe and Wine Bar for a relaxing, lush environment and an impressive selection of wine.

Where to Stay in Camden

The Lord Camden Inn is a local mainstay situated right in the middle of downtown with rooms overlooking Main Street. A little away from the bustle and energy of downtown, but still within walking distance is the Camden Harbour Inn, a truly luxurious inn with beautiful views.

The Hartstone Inn is another great local B&B. The Norembega Inn, although not within walking distance of downtown, is a beautiful stone and wood fairytale-esque castle and definitely worth a short drive into town.

Outdoor Activities to Try in Camden

Get out during the day and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Camden Hills State Park offers year round outdoor activities and spectacular views. With a wide variety of day hikes and and campgrounds available, Camden Hills has something for everyone and is within five minutes of downtown.

Visitors can also stop by French & Brawn Marketplace, a tiny, throw-back grocery store in the center of town, to pack a delicious bagged lunch for your adventure. Hike Maiden's Cliff and take a dip in Lake Megunticook to cool off afterward. For the fair whether hiker, Mt. Battie offers a paved access road that you can drive or walk for stunning view of Camden Harbor.

Make sure to make some time to get out on the water as well! The harbor is packed with beautiful pleasure craft, passenger schooners, and lobster boats. To go for a day sail, just walk down to the docks and check for times. If you're up for more adventure, try three, four, or seven day trips on a historic Maine windjammer. Check out the Maine Windjammer Association for more information. Enjoy your trip to Camden!
