In October 2006, over 6,000 bottles of Trump: The World’s Finest Super Premium Vodka arrived at JFK airport from Holland. In a red carpet and velvet rope ceremony befitting Trump, the bottles were unloaded by white gloved men in tuxedos surrounded by a menagerie of stunning models. Escorted by some of New York’s finest, the bottles were delivered to their Long Island City distribution warehouse. Since Trump Vodka first arrived on store shelves in 2006, it's been getting rave reviews and winning awards.
How Trump Vodka is Made
The quintuple-distilled vodka was created by third generation Dutch master vodka craftsman Jacques de Lat after extensive testing with wine and spirit masters. It is produced by Wanders Distillery in Holland, master distillers since 1658. Most vodkas use neutral grains as a base but Trump Vodka is distilled from select European wheat and stored in stainless steel tanks for 6 months. The distillate is then filtered through a carbon filtration process twice, run through a 9-column filtration process, and carbon filtered twice more before resting in stainless steel tanks prior to bottling. Trump Vodka maintains a pure flavourlessness. Because it has very little citrus and even less sweetness, it's the perfect vodka to use when mixing fruity cocktails. As well as the original flavour, Trump Vodka is also available in raspberry, orange, citron, and grape flavours.
Trump Vodka's Packaging
A one-of-a-kind Bruni Glass bottle holds the clear liquid. Graphic artist Milton Glaser, creator of the infamous “I heart New York” logo, designed a gold leaf package to deliver a visual punch to Trump Vodka buyers. The result is a product intended to compete with super-premium vodkas including Grey Goose, Ketel One, Belvedere, and Chopin.
The T&T, the Trump and Tonic
Donald Trump has called the vodka bearing his name “a major player in the vodka market.” He hopes the most requested cocktail these days will be the T&T, the Trump and Tonic. Ironically enough, Trump claims to be against the use of alcohol and does not consume it himself.
