Between 40 million and 50 million people have acne, as reported by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). Teenagers are most often affected by acne, though adults can get it as well. Over 85 percent of all teenagers suffer from acne. Medical intervention is not always necessary and often, a good hygiene routine will help clear up acne problems. Natural products like borage oil claim to be able to treat acne, though there is not enough medical evidence to prove this theory.
Symptoms and Causes of Acne
When pores become blocked with excess oil and dirt, acne can develop. Sometimes the acne is small and flat, and other times it can form tiny to large bumps that may be filled with pus. The deeper the inflammation, the more intense the acne is.
You can get acne anywhere on your body, but it most often appears on the face.
