Watch the 2011 State of the Union Address live on the Internet. Social networking media including YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, will also play a role.

United States President Barack Obama will address the nation with his second State of the Union Address on Tuesday, January 25, 2011. The speech, which will begin at 9:00 P.M. EST, will take place in the U.S. House Chamber at the Capitol in front of a joint session of Congress.

The Role of Social Networking

The role of social networking has not only changed the way people interact with one another, but has also dramatically changed the way people receive news and information. And the Obama administration continues to take full advantage of social networking media.

This year, people from all over the world will be able to watch President Obama give his highly anticipated State of the Union Address from televisions, computers and mobile devices, live, in real-time. Where to Watch the Presidential State of the Union 2011 Address Online

  • 2011 State of the Union Live at White House Website – Users from all over the world will be able to watch the President’s speech live from the White House website. And immediately following the speech, officials from the White House will take part in a question-and-answer session live on the Internet. Users will be able to submit questions on Facebook, Twitter or the official White House site.
  • News Sites Stream 2011 State of the Union Address - News websites including CNN and C-Span will also be streaming the event, live. C-SPAN will offer closed captions and transcripts while CNN will also stream the GOP’s response after the President’s speech.
  • White House iPhone Apps - The event will not only be available on the White House website, but will also be available on various handheld devices as well. Three iPhone apps, available on the iTunes App Store site, will allow iPhone and iPod Touch users to watch the speech live as well. Up-to-date news and information from the White House will be delivered straight to your iPhone. The official White House app is available for free while the other two apps, The White House Blogs and Whitehouse Videos apps, are available for less than $1 each.
  • The White House on Facebook - Not only will users be able to watch President Obama give his speech on Facebook in real time, but White House experts will also be available for a lively online discussion via the mega-popular social networking site. Subjects including the economy, foreign policy, health care and education will be included in the live roundtable format. Users are asked to submit questions prior to the event on January 27, 2011.
  • Live Stream on YouTube – The popular video-sharing site, YouTube, will also broadcast the State of the Union address live on its CitizenTube Channel. And two days after the speech, users will also be able to ask President Obama questions, via video, which will be answered in an exclusive YouTube interview scheduled for January 27, 2011, at 2:30 P.M. EST. To date, over 2,000 people have submitted nearly 750 questions for the Interview with President Obama. Questions must be submitted by midnight, January 26, 2011.
  • The White House on Twitter – White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs will answer questions submitted to Twitter.

The State of the Union 2011 Address will be broadcast live online and on handheld devices. Social networking sites including YouTube, Facebook and Twitter will all play a significant role in this year’s State of the Union Address.
