While many television networks around the world will broadcast the Royal Wedding as it unfolds, social media is also playing a pivotal role in the event.

In just a few short hours, a beloved Prince will marry a beautiful “commoner” in what is being described as the “wedding of the century.” His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine “Kate” Middleton will wed at 11:00 a.m. BST on Friday, April 29, 2011. An estimated two billion people are expected to watch the wedding as the couple exchanges vows inside the magnificent Westminster Abbey in London early Friday morning.

With social media playing such a pivotal role in today’s society, the Internet will also be utilized in the upcoming royal wedding. Whether at work, at play or on the road, computer and mobile device users with Internet access will be able to watch the highly anticipated wedding as it unfolds in real time.

  • Facebook fans will be able to read all about the wedding on the redesigned British Monarchy’s official Facebook page. Click the “Wedding Stories” link on the left side of the page and share with others how you will be celebrating the event. You can also send well wishes to the Prince and his new bride.
