How to Design Your Own Bookmark Favors
The design of your bookmark should reflect the overall theme or style of your wedding. Your favor should work well with the style (for example, traditional or modern), theme (like Western or Calla Lilly) and color scheme (black-and-white, pink) of your wedding. For instance, if your wedding is Western themed, a fun idea would be to incorporate an image of a cowboy lassoing a cowgirl with a neutral color background.
Since they can be fairly large in size, bookmarks have the benefit of accomodating a large image or photo. You can use a photo of the bride and groom or a stock image that conveys the theme of the wedding. Clip art is a great way to find stock images that reflect your wedding's theme. How to Make Your Own Bookmark Favors
After you've planned out how you want your bookmarks to look, it is time to start crafting them. You will need the following supplies and materials:
- a high quality color printer
- cardstock in your choice of background color
- ribbon in your choice of color
- hole punch
- paper trimmer
- embellishments as desired
- copies of photo if desired
- craft adhesive
Instructions
- Step 1: Using your computer's word processing, print shop or picture editing program, design the layout of your bookmark's image and wording. Remember to set your program's deisgn page layout to horizontal or columnar. Play around with the cropping and arrangement of photos from your collection, if you choose to use a photo of the two of you.
- Step 2: Once you are satisified with the look of your bookmark template, print them out on your cardstock.
- Step 3: Using a paper trimmer, carefully cut out each bookmark. Be sure to keep them as straight as possible, as this provides a more professional appearance.
- Step 4: If desired, attach embellishments to your bookmark with craft adhesive.
- Step 5: Punch hole at top of bookmark and attach ribbon.
